It is actually refreshing to hear something good from another fanbase. I know from personal experience that our fans are going to knock every single player THAT FLOOD RECRUITED we have unless they are talked about on sports center. Heard it plenty- not strong enough, big enough, good enough...only to see that player get years in at the NFL.
I don't know if Turay gets drafted or where or when...The draft itself is a very strange animal and depending on "runs" on certain positions, he could move way up or way down.

Slight fix to above. Turay was one of those diamonds in the rough some folks here hated to have.

This board does have a weird affinity for ripping former RU players. With that said, second round projection seems a bit crazy. Turay has a quarter of the resume that any former RU player drafted that high had.

the NFL loves QBs and Pass Rushers. They will go nuts once they see how athletic he is. I’m not projecting 2nd round, but I think he will be a lot higher than 7th round based off potential alone. His future is at 3-4 OLB IMO

It is a mix bag, some guys like Kroft were underrated. I remember a bunch of people saying that AD was not going to be a first round pick.
Here's another one for the mixed bag.

Duron Harmon.

Nobody here had him going 3rd round a few picks after Logan.

You - and a few others - have ALWAYS taken this the wrong way: None of us - myself included - have ANY issue with a "diamond in the rough" type of kid, or even a few of them, here-and-there. The ISSUE was with the Floodies claiming every single 2-star, that Flood signed, was a "diamond in the rough" or "stopped his recruitment" or was a "hidden gem," as Flood was filling class-after-class with 2-star kids.

Not true that I recall for "every" 2 star. But now we have Ashies claiming a lot of kids with no or few other P5 offers are hidden gems and/or our coaches will develop them into diamonds. I don't mind diamonds in the rough whatever their source. And until we can magically recruit a class that is full of 5, 4 and high 3 star players with multiple P5 offers, there will always be fans who will wish for the diamond mining and refining abilities of our staff. That said, this staff is far better equipped and mining and refining than the immediate previous staff. But the performance of a 2 star, low ranked, lightly recruited 3 star recruit is still going to be a crap shoot against the 4 and 5 stars of the upper echelon of the B1G East. We can only hope the Wisconsin/Northwestern approach works for us.

One more point:
2013- five 2 stars (Turay was one)
2014- nine 2 stars (Isaiah Wharton and Tariq Cole were two)
2015- eleven 2 stars (Jawuan Harris and Jonah Jackson and Jon Bateky were three)
(not saying all of these guys will make it to the NFL, just that they exceeded a 2 star ranking)

Not a bad batting average for 2 star recruits who have exceeded their high school rating. But RU needs to bat better than .240 if we are going to try to compete with 2 and low-ranked 3 star recruits.

I do. It was never-ending and every single time I, or others, pointed it out, boom, we'd get bombarded with hatred.
If there was any perceived hatred in my posts, I apologize. My position has always been to support the current coach supported by the AD and President/BOG. Also, I am not privy to a lot of inside stuff that some folks know about, and would really prefer the dirty laundry inside the Hale Center to remain there.

No worries it wasn't just you, anyway, all good.

How did he drop so much? He was projected as a first rounder on this forum not too long ago.

People like to bash Turay because he didn't put up monster sack numbers, but don't realize you can be a really good DE and not fill up the stat sheet at the same time.

People like to rip players because it takes the blame off the coaches. They can’t handle the fact that Ash is just not that good.

If the medicals don’t raise significant red flags I don’t think he is on the board at start of day 3. Think late second or early third

That Alabama guy is Nick Saban. He has 10 million reasons to be optimistic every year.

I've been thinking lately that its really Coach Ash making believe he's Coach Saban. Old Jedi mind trick.

The problem with "Floodies" was largely this.. they hated Schiano.. and that was enough to like Flood. they got stuck liking Flood because he was NOT SCHIANO. And now they are left defending their Flood-love. They should just give it up... admit they were wrong and join the rest of us. No one hates Ash.. we all HOPE Ash can get it done. Some doubt this more than others... but they would LOVE to be wrong. And that was not true wit Schiano.. some hated him from the start... and that is who the Floodies are... mostly.

So what about the kids he gets with no offers in June, but in December, they get 10 P5 offers in 2 days? Should he stop evaluating talent and go after these 5 and 4 star NJ guys who fold and want mommy when they get down here with the big boys?

Absolutely not, and that was basically my point. We agree (I think). Ash needs to keep doing what he is doing in a slow climb up the mountain. As RU ascends, 4 and 5 stars will start to commit to RU. Don't know what some fans expect after the disastrous 2015 and 2016 seasons--the best players are simply going to flock to RU?

If he is rated the 9th best DE and 71st prospect overall he has chance to go in first 3 rounds. Depends on how many DE teams need or are looking for. Good luck to him

Well, the one thing that helps our players is the competition they go against now. Don't know how KT did against tOSU, PSU, Michigan, etc - would be cool if someone had his stats per game. If he can run in the 4.7-4.8 range, decent vertical, good 3-cone, and doesn't look stiff as a board in the agility drills, he will be drafted. BUT, combine invites have not gone out yet.
He was already invited to the combine

Kemoko is a real interesting story. Most RU fans that follow recruiting were like WTF is Flood doing offering a kid that played one year of competitive football and weighed like 205lbs going into senior of HS. Kid must have been a freak athlete but none of us could have predicted his ascension to NFL prospect. Not even the guy’s name that rhymes with Dude.

Day 2. KT got wiped out first couple of 1v1's, but then he got around the outside and looked good. Mayock said "he's got good size and speed, but has no idea what he's doing. Raw."

Raw, usually means lots of potential. Lots of potential usually means calculated risk, calculated risk usually means anywhere from round 2-5

Makes you wonder if Ash/Burnham are bad coaches in teaching technique/etc or if Turay is one of those in one ear out the other type of person.
