aYup, you could see they had talent despite what some board experts tried to say

to be fair at that time, they came off a one point desperation last shot win over Appalachian State, a game that is still absolutely murdering their NET numbers much like Lehigh and Lafayette did to RU last year. I didnt think they played particular well vs RU...they hit some 3s that made them game even closer than the final 24 point margin. Make no mistake RU beat them like a drum and they never saw a defense like Rutgers or never will see one again this year. However Wake does not play defense and that is going to torpedo them eventually. Also I see Appleby played 40 minutes vs Clemson, played 40 in another game this year and has logged 38 and 39 minutes recently. How sustainable is that?

I dont know where Wake fits in right now since I have been zero analysis since its still two weeks too early to seriously look at bracketlogy. Just by glancing the ACC has 7 or 8 schools competing for bids so that stuff will not work itself out til maybe the NCAA tourney. Certainly a contender but a long way to go. Wake had gaudy numbers last year and a top 25 ranking and then petered out at the end and they didnt have big wins to save them. This year their wins are better but NET is trash.

looking at their schedule they are in for a gauntlet in the next 4 and here is where they can make their case...

Virginia
at Pitt
NC State
at Duke

get 3 of these 4 and things are looking pretty good for them, 2-2 keeps them right there, 1-3 and there is still work to do. Need to prove it

they get another stretch of tough games later vs UNC and on the road at Miami and NC State. Also the ACC is full of landmine bad losses with so many dregs.

Bac - I saw that too. He plays a ton of min. He may ware down but he is a fantastic player. I agree their D is not great but neither is anyone else’s D in the ACC. I think they will continue to win in the ACC games. If Alppleby goes down, Wake is done for.

That’s what I kinda of thought or is it more likely competing against Wiscy for higher seed?

I'm honestly not so sure about this. PSU looks like they will be in the thick of it for a single bye with a chance for more. They could easily finish ahead of Wisc.

Almost every single night there are great games. Even if you're not following the schedule, you can just turn on BTN and odds are some B1G battle is going down

I open the Fox Sports app every night and just pick the most appealing looking Big Ten or Big East game. There's always a few to choose from over the course of an evening. I love college basketball season!

Steve Forbes at Wake Forest is the offense version of Steve Pikiell.

Yo be fair at the time they were 8-4 when they played us and they did beat Wisconsin at Wisconsin when they were at full strength. They have proceeded to win 6-7 with wins over Duke , Va. Tech and Clemson and the only loss at UNC. They are 6-2 in second in the ACC with Miami and have a real shot to make the tourney.
But that was not the point . The point was it was as clear as day that they had talent and pieces to be a good team . They had 2 good guards with Appelby being really good , a real good wing who shot lights out from 3 ( didn’t play against App. state) and a nice 4 man who had some good low post moves and a 12-15 foot jump shot. Their weakness was at the 5 spot. Our defense caught them by suprise and Appelby really struggled.
Then some posters came on here and said they sucked and I called them out on their really bad take. You tried to defend them at that time and your trying to do it again when they have proceeded to win 6-7 since our game with some nice wins. Despite their NET now being 69 coming from high 90’s and you calling their NET trash they have a good shot as good as your favorite team Michigan who you predicted would make the tourney with their “trash” NET of 75. The eye test also matters.

They are 71 in kenpom. Were people saying they were worse than that? I think it was more semantic arguments over the meaning of "not that good"
