So what's the deal with our women's bkb program? I thought Matilda was moving them in the right direction. But every time I look at a box score, they're 4 or 5 games under .500. I could be wrong but this seems to have been my experience the last few years.
In the games I have been to, they struggle to defend inside and rebound. TU has some OK size, but those players are not very athletic or quick so there is not a shot blocker and no one that can really go up to get rebounds. They have lost a lot of close games this year as they don't have that one scorer they can go to, although I think Ashley Clark and Kelsey Grovee could be that type of player. In the game they won against ECU, ECU ate TU alive in the paint and scored a ton inside as well as grabbed a lot of offensive rebounds. TU was really effective in driving the ball to the basket and hit a lot of mid-range shots (in the game they lost to ORU, TU struggled to hit anything).
BTW, I go to the women's games because my daughter loves to hang out with the cheerleaders. At womens' games it general admission seating so we can go sit courtside, and she gets to go on the floor with them and cheer and dance.
