Gee does anyone notice that SMU hasn’t taken the air out of the ball and just run clock with the lead?? Can’t believe that any real coach would keep the pedal down...

Stopped watching.
Don’t want get any more pissed off tonight than I already am.
Same with me. I usually watch games to the end but for some reason I couldn't keep watching this. Even worse is that I may not care as much. Talent level is such a mismatch.

They are a bubble team trying to play their way into the dance. That equals peddle to the metal and going full throttle...

We sound exactly like the Memphis fans in January last year. 12 months later they sell out and have a top five national recruiting class

Losing by 23+ points in a non competitive game on the road.. similar to the Houston loss.

Barely beating/losing to teams at home...

No shooters, no killer instinct...

Really, that’s the M.O. of a marginally talented team with mental toughness issues...

6 yrs in, this is not where we need to be...not where we should be.

If he doesn’t ink a great class... I think Haiths expiration date will approach quickly.

We beat 2 big 12 teams yes but if you think we have talent of big 12 or
Top of AAC I’m not sure you are watching same team. We are ok and coached well but talent is an issue imo.

LOL aside from beating two Big 12 teams in two tries (one of them 2 straight years), where's the proof that we have talented players

Worst case scenario today. Can Haith pull the team's collective thumb out of its collective ***?

My fear is that TU is trying to compete in the American with C-USA talent.

Wednesday's game against UCONN could define the rest of the season. Hope the students continue to show up. They've provided good energy this year and they are capable of making more noise than old die-hards like myself.

They made a coaching change.
We got Danny Manning and he took off for Wake Forest...I believe Haith can coach circles around Manning, but recruiting is a different matter. So far the only recent productive recruit is Horne and Ibanu has all but disappeared the last two games .

Igbanu is an undersized 4 playing the 5. There is enough film that teams have adapted to his game. Going against player 4-5 inches taller has basically negated his game on both ends of the court.
I think Horne will eventually settle in as a 2 or maybe a 3. He has a nice stroke.

Horne at 6'7" and 220# is more of a 3-4. If he puts on 20# then maybe a 4. Currently his defensive skills are a 4 and his shot is more of a 3.

His ball handling skills also aren't that of a 2. We would struggle against pressure if he was our second ball handler. He's an ideal stretch 4 or big 3 depending on the lineup. I expect him to be our leading scorer next season.

Haith and his staff will not ever get big time talent to win the AAC....Just
not in them
You are telling the simple truth.....Our 2018 class seems to be struggling
to make some contributions....Hill in the 2019 class will help, but we still
have 2 slots open in that class, and have a great need for a rebounding
big, and a talented wing.....This seems to be a critical time in our recruiting
sequence...We are losing what has been the heart of the team for the
past two seasons (Tap and Jeffries). and the replacements to date don't
really seem to be there.....It is hard to visualize a team out of the remaining
squad + Hill, that can compete in the AAC....Igbanu, Horne, Joiner, and Hill
will be players, but where do we go from there, including depth....Where will
the scoring come from?

Overall, our team has trouble with handling the ball, passing the ball, and
rebounding the ball.....Our shooting is hot and cold.....On defense, we play
a well designed match-up zone with man-to-man principals....A team that
rotates the ball really fast, and a shooter like McMurray made it look worse
than it is......It has kept us in some games where our offense wasn't great....

A lack of "mental toughness" mentioned above & by Haith in the TW this morning is, IMO, just as important as physical toughness. You don't beat KSU & OSU without physical toughness. But I knew better than to pick TU over SMOO after the collapse vs Cincy & did it anyway.

Ya'll know I stump jokingly on here for a team shrink. But of course, it's the coaching staff's duty to get the team's space between the ears ready for the next game after a Cincy. Haith & Co. fail in this but maybe it's impossible to get 18, 19, etc. yr-olds ready mentally or not since there are obviously coaches out there who get it done.

Tonight vs UConn should be a win, since time has passed since the embarassment of Cincy & Smoo and the team should be mentally ready to go to war. We'll see.
