Huh? We hate Temple??!?
Hate PSU fanbase? Check!
Hate Temple fanbase? Hardly.
Hate UCONN fanbase? Yes!
Hate Syracuse fanbase? OH HELL YEAH!

This. I put zero thought into Temple. There are a number of schools I put way above hate compared to Temple. Temple to me is, well, irrelevant and neither here nor there. Sorry.
As for the first game against our friends from Pennsylvania, I think the Nittany Lions beat the snot out of Temple.
I know Rutgers fans in the Philly area going to the game just to root against TTFP.

Could not agree more Janowski, there's also a bit of irony thinking the way we do when it comes to PSU's feeling toward us.
Temple has a pretty good home schedule w/ PSU and ND coming to town.
Temple has an experienced team with 19 starters back, including the QB. They are one of the favorites to win the AAC this year. I would not be surprised if that game turns out to be very close.
We had a year to think about Temple and to be honest, didn't think about them much then. Their fans are quite um well, scarce but they make up for it in stupidity and lack of football knowledge. I want them to spank the Shat out of Franklin though.
Temple is in no way a threat to our recruiting, they're in the AAC for God's sake. A loss to Temple would devastate PSU fans and "could" impact recruits. GO Owls...beat the Totfp. Besides the look on Franklins face could be poster material.
Temple is not even on my hate radar. I also don`t ever see myself hating Maryland which I think many here may feel similarly, so I`m not sure about how heated a rivalry it can become. More like good natured competition imo.

Pretty much this. The one caveat is that PSU's O-line still has some issues and I don't know about Temple's D-line. If they can get a push, Hack will have a bad day, as evidenced by all of last season.
I'll say this. I believe that Temple will show up for this game. I don't think ttfp will dominate as some may think. Temple has a ton of unheralded talent, especially along the front 4. It just may be ttfp will have a hard time running the football, and their OL is still suspect. Rhule is light years a better coach than Franklin, and will look at ways to simply outcoach their entire staff, just toake them think twice. I think that line is way too generous for ttfp. This game may be a lot closer than many may think. My choice....would be to take Temple and the points.
Think Temple keeps it close. And yeah, maybe except KBee, nobody here hates the Owls.

PSU has pretty much totally recovered from the short-term sanctions. Many FB writers are in love with Franklin and the preseason has them being a serious player in the BIG.
All of this, plus the built in arrogance of the school, could mean they really walk into a hornets nest.
Yes, Temple has what appears to be a decent team which should be in great shape to deliver some surprises, but they certainly do not have anywhere near the PSU depth and my guess is that they are able to keep it competitive for the first half before they are exhausted.

Nah, I don't hate Temple. And I'll be rooting for them vs. Pedd St. for sure. I just got into it with some of their fans long ago when we played them and their fans visited this board much like Pedd St.'s do now. I know they also loved my visits to their board....back when they had one. I just don't let things go like normal people do. So if I have a chance, I'll be recalling all of the predictions some of their fans made here and on Owlscoop back when we played them. And, of course, revel in the different paths our respective programs have taken since back then.
It's great fun.

Phil Steele really likes Temple this year. They have 15 seniors expecting to start & he has them as the #1 Defense in the AAC.
With such high expectations of Penn State this year, I think this is the game where their fans realize that James Franklin is not the amazing coach they were sold.
