What's he doing? Usually (for him) doing something as stupid as closing the border is associated with some kind of pending deal but there is none. He'll create a huge clusterfvck if he starts closing entry points then just have to open them back up and be right back where he started. I see it as a big bluff but for what purpose? I guess he sees immigration as the Repub's big issue going into 2020 and he wants to make a big of a mess of it as he can between now and then and then say only he can solve it? If that's the case then he's going senile and the Dems are cheering...

Still, if Dems can put a palatable proposal out there, the Repubs have nothing so that's advantage Dems I'd think and that may be the biggest issue out there in 2020. I think Repubs were screwed either way they went with this. I just hope that Trump keeps railing on and attempting to take down the ACA between now and then as I think that helps Dems.

I’d guess closing the border is a threat more to Mexico with the logic being twofold. 1. It will officially economically hurt them if they don’t start controlling their side of the border better. 2. The border agents can be reassigned go deal with the massive overcrowding occurring due to the influx of asylum seekers.
I am saying more has needed to be done and the DEA and DHS under the last three Presidents have told you the same thing. Your still missing the point of why so many drugs are being dumped in our country. It's not that we are not trying, it is we need to do better for a whole lot of reasons. Take some time off from Republicans vs Democrats and go study about the whole subject you may find it interesting. Plenty of ways to destroy a country without firing a shot. Certainly a fan of aspects of his presidency, ie regulation and corporate tax reform. Not 100% in line with what I'd do, but I don't think that can ever be expected. Without trade wars, tariffs and the the budgets, I'd probably still struggle to be a fan with his other nonsense.

What's your point? Congress has been mostly gridlocked on immigration reform for a long time. More wall sections in some places may be helpful but drugs will always get into this country. Trump is trying to get China to stop the fentanyl export to the U.S. so there's that. What changes do you propose that will solve the problems you describe?
