You were truly failed by whoever educated you. It's not your fault, after all you're a late 50s guy who probably grew up in the deep south where public education is abysmal. Please read about the Southern Strategy...you are remarkably off base. FTR, The south went R in '64 and didn't go Blue again until Carter in '76. Then it went R in 80 and has been R ever since.

You should do some reading on the history of the shift of the two parties and what were the catalysts for it. Here, just read the Brittanica article on the history of the Southern Strategy - it's a very interesting read and hopefully will clarify some things for you.

I know all about it and I know the spin applied to what really happen. Nixon won the city's in the south. Again back in those days conservatives were in both party's. In the 90's the far left took over and moved the conservatives out. Go see which dems swapped in 94 and after. Again being a person of color born and raised in the south I know my history well. You should go watch what MLK and Malcolm X had said at that time. Both taken out by the left to shut them up. Also Republicans never won in the south until the 80's. It had always been a strong Dem area. Again as the south became less racist it became more conservative and went more Republican as the DNC began forcing conservatives out of the party. They then became Republicans in a big way in the 80's and 90's as many of the old racist dems died. There are lots of videos of current Dems saying racist things. Look at what the NY Gov said last week about blacks and Latinos not knowing what a computer was or how to use the internet. Let a Rep say dumb **** like that and the news would never stop about it and she would be forced to resign. But since she is a Dem you and the media just ignore it. You have to makeup that Trump is a racist because you have no proof, but ignore all the proof about the people you support. While it maybe lost on you that you support people like that its not lost on many blacks and Latinos and thats why Trump is surging in the polls with those groups. But just keep trying to project your sins onto others. Its all you got...
