I think the best takeaway is there is a desire to play college football and there are people on multiple sides trying exceedingly hard to TRY and make that happen. Don't care if that is President Trump, Trevor Lawrence, Joe Biden, Dabo Swinney, the head of Infectious Diseases --- don't care. Seeing folks from all sorts of places TRYING to do this safely and as carefully as they can is the knowledge I'm most happy to see.
It takes a lot of people to make this season happen. Cooperation. Unity. Less politics. Less division. Yes...some individual attention to detail beyond oneself.....and the odds there are 0 cases over the season is silly. But the effort behind #WeWantToPlay is the shining light IMHO. Not reckless abandon...but collaborative effort in a challenging covid climate.
Anyone TRYING to make that happen safely is a blessing right now to this country. I don't care who you are. IMO, this goes beyond just a game, especially if it can be pulled off successfully and with cooperation from all sides.
And when you're a star, they let you do it. You can do anything. Grab 'em by the *****. You can do anything.

Count me as one who thinks we as a country will be a lot safer and better off if Biden does NOT get elected, but I laughed out loud at this.
The Trump admin had every opportunity to increase testing early on, initiate contact tracing, encourage people to follow guidelines and craft safe/sustainable plans for schools to reopen. The President is the main reason why there probably won't be football in the fall. Him championing the cause now is only meant to serve him politically.

Got it, Mr Hindsight. No one knew how to handle this thing. Not saying he's done a great job, but I didn't hear ANYONE giving us what we can look back on as great advice months ago.

ummmm.... really? There was a pandemic team and pandemic playbook in place in the white house. Started by Bush, improved by Obama. Trump scrapped it in 2018. The CDC even had an epidemiologist in Wuhan until 2018.

Actually over 160,000 now, and several studies that compare average numbers of deaths for the past 7 months with actual numbers of deaths for those 7 months indicate that the number might be over 200,000. Which do you think is more likely - more people just randomly died over the past 7 months, or the number of deaths increased because of the global pandemic? And if you look at the deaths by state by month, those extra deaths line up nicely with the periods when then virus was most widespread (NY/NJ in April, South in June/July.) Actual Trump tweets about Obama and Ebola. Funny, Obama is responsible for Ebola (which was very minor in the US) but he is not responsible for COVID-19 in US (which was much, much worse). Seems reasonable to me...

I thought it was so cool that the President of the United States of America spoke with our beloved QB and talked about it to the country. Are you aware if someone dies from a hangnail they blame it on Covid. Are aware that hospitals are paid 13K to say someone died from Covid & 39k to put people on a ventilator, which has a 90% death rate. I know 2 people that had loved ones die that had nothing to do with Covid, but that’s what was put on their death certificate.
