I don't make it a habit of jumping into a 2 way back and forth uninvied, but that last part of this statement is total ********, If you want to insult a pushing 80yr old vietnam combat vet then just be a man and do it directly @fskillet .

How were you raised differently? Let's hear it. Let's hear about your family history.

Yeah, i think your "i was just raised differently" is really, "I've nver seen combat" Am I rightr?

I was wondering who was going to bite on that. Personally, I don't think punishing civilians for the actions of their government is an appropriate action, but I guess since I never served I don't understand that sometimes you just need to kill innocent people.

Since you asked, and I'm not trying to stolen valor my relatives like Hotshoe enjoys doing, my views were shaped by my WW2 fighter pilot turned destroyer Captain grandfather who served for nearly 40 years who recently passed. Hearing his stories and listening to him talk about his experiences spanning 3 wars is the foundation for my stance on US engagements and what I consider appropriate actions. Another grandfather served in Korea and in the pacific post WW2 in the Navy, as well, but he died when I was very young so I didn't get to know him as well. Aside from them, I had family serve in every US engagement since the Revolution, and likely in the Indian wars before them, but that's pretty moot since pretty much everyone's family who can trace their lineage back hundreds of years on this continent can attest to the same.
Looks like the homie @fskillet wrecked your a ss @ANEW 😂😂😂

No, you weren't wondering anything.. You were talking out of your *** and i called you out.

I honor the service of your family . And stolen valor does not apply to you whatsoever. But your family memvbers' service is what it is and does not add weight to your opinion. Why? The fact is that in spite of that history, you did not follow them and serve.

You took a left-handed shot at at a long serving combat vet from Vietnam. That's ********.

How were you raised differently? You said that you were. How?

Lol, yes you clearly know the intent of my posts better than I do.

I never said it added weight. You asked me about my family history and I told you. It would be one thing if I just offered that information up out of the blue to lend credence to my stance, but I didn't.

I was raised to think that killing innocent people isn't acceptable and you can infer it from the second sentence of what you just quoted, as well as the statement in the 2nd paragraph about "appropriate actions."

Ned doesn't need you in here mounting your steed for him. He didn't seem to have any issue with my light barb, especially since he didn't even take the bait, so I'm not sure why you felt the need to jump in.

hey guys, don't argue over me. I served and am proud of my service and my accomplishments. I recognize that everyone has their own perspectives on war, service and whatever. I don't think there is anyone who enters combat that wants to kill, - be it an enemy soldier or especially civilian. But I can tell you, when the firings begin, the thoughts, at least my own, immediately reverted to my training and my survival.

By the way I raised to respect life too. In fact, I can say, anyone who was enthusiastic about going into a combat situation scared me.

EDIT: I really didn't have to go...one of the crazy rules back then was that a family only had to have one member in the combat zone at a time. When I went, I already had one brother in the infantry and one in the navy in the zone. But my father, a naturalized citizen, felt that as a family we owed the country...so, while he didn't insist, he encouraged, me to go as ordered. I went...

Yeah having a family member serve is no where close to the same as serving. In fact, it’s totally irrelevant and not even in the same ballpark.

It's not my fault you're incapable of understanding what I said. You probably should've put down the bottle and sobered up a bit.

There is nothing about serving that makes a person inherently honorable. There’s nothing about not serving that makes one less honorable. The same is true for every profession. I never even had to register for the draft and I don’t regret for a single second not having to serve.

Plenty of shiddy people have served in the US military. Many others have done shiddy things. The No Gun Ri massacre in Korea and the My Lai massacre immediately jump to mind. US troops fired on civilians because… orders.

The real hypocrisy comes out when those who use their mere service as a “badge of honor” turn around and denigrate the service of someone like John Kerry. There is nothing in the service records of the Swift Boaters that make them “honorable.”
