Trinity Episcopal won the Asian Longhorned Beetle Bowl, defeating Woodberry Forest 45-7. The Titans led 38-7 at halftime and never looked back. Junior quarterback Deacon Skogen threw five touchdown passes to different receivers.
The game was infested by thousands of Asian Longhorned Beetles, which affected the players, coaches, fans, referees, chain gangs, and even people in the parking lot.
Both teams combined for three turnovers in the 1st three possessions. Trinity Episcopal freshman Mason Cherry picked off a pass, putting the ball at the Woodberry Forest 15-yard line. Skogen connected with KJ Harris for a touchdown.
Trinity Episcopal fumbled the ball, and Bilal Bangura recovered it at the 5-yard line. Jah Draughn tied the game with a 5-yard touchdown run with 6:28 remaining in the 1st quarter.
Skogen led touchdown drives on four straight possessions before halftime. He completed a 33-yard touchdown pass to UVA commit Landon Hicks to end the 1st quarter and then threw a 57-yard pass to Josiah Walker with 8:34 to go in the 2nd quarter. A long completion to KJ Harris set up a 4-yard touchdown run by CJ Gray.
Landon Hicks made an acrobatic one-handed grab to complete a 48-yard scoring drive, and Trinity Episcopal added a no-time-on-the-clock field goal for a 38-7 lead.
