It has everything to do with the fallacy of trickle down economics.

It's amazing to me how a word or phrase gets coined into the popular lexicon, then treated as Gospel on the Left. In any study of micro or macro economics, the word "trickle down" simply doesn't exist...either as a theory or philosophy! It's a wholly made up term by some Leftist politicos but it has zero to do with how a free market economy actually functions and it can't even be accurately explained by the folks who regularly use it ostensibly to describe unfair wage or other economic inequality under Capitalism.
In fact if you want to get precise & technical, every time a dollar is spent or earned it "trickles down" to whoever is the seller or purchaser/wage earner. Leftists use that word to describe how they'd rather see or control the way dollars move through a private enterprise economy but their track record on massive Government controlled income redistribution is a dismal failure. So they use the word "trickle down" to smear Capitalism and free markets but they never acknowledge Socialism's unmitigated "trickle down" disaster by comparison.
