The same reason we don't fill up the roster with Ky kids who are ranked 35th best at their position. If we did, we wouldn't be UK, we would be Morehead.

Uh...I am not saying to fill the roster like that. I am saying to fill out the back end of roster with that. We need some guys who are willing to work and stay here to supplement the influx of 5☆'s that come in and out year after year.

Jorts had the talent he just need to get in shape!

How do we know thisnkid doesn't? He was signed at an ACC school. Jorts was set to go to Western Illinois or something and then went Juco.

I am not saying this kid is the savior but if any of us thinks that we are going to keep players ranked 1-50 out of high school around for 2-4 years consistently we are all misguided.

We need people to fill out back end of roster and who better than 3☆ kids with potential that are from our home state?

No offense to Trey, but I watched him play a couple of times and I can’t believe WF even offered him a scholarship. No way he’s a D1 talent and dang sure won’t be getting any calls from Kentucky. The kid from Johnson Central that committed to Marshall a couple years ago and ended up quitting before the season started was 50 times better than this kid.

OK...I admit I am from Inez so I do not come to this without that bias. But so many on this board want Cal to recruit four year Kentucky boys to be on the team. Kentucky does not put out a lot of high level 5 star guys and if we did they are not likely to stay four years either. So this might be the type of guy from Kentucky who stays, develops maybe even red shirts and provides glue to several UK teams. Maybe even develop into Kentucky's very own, 'Big Country'!
Good point...if Trey would be content to work and wait his turn. That is not easy to accept and stay happy.

So if Trey and Cal say YES, then I amend my NO to YES YES!

Jared Carter was the typical Tubby recruit. Players came here and actually got worse. This guy would have been better suited for Georgetown College or Transy. I sincerely think that Roy offered him just to get tubby to commit so he would not have room to take another player Carolina wanted that year. Tubby took a lot of guys that wound up being flops..Brandon Stockton is another one. Kid came here playing like he was the 43 year old dad playing church league ball. Tubby was not a developer of talent.
