The difference between UNL vs UNO’s budget isn’t just apples to oranges, it’s like living on Earth vs Mars. Can’t even compare.

I'm much more concerned that he wanted Minnesota, Wisconsin and Iowa as our protected rivals. I hope we are aiming higher than being another mediocre Midwest team that no one outside the BiG TeN cares about.

Said nothing about enrollment whatsoever. You seem to want to get something off your chest.
I must have misunderstood your comment. I thought you were saying that if a school raises tuition they are a “sh!tbag university”

Next there will be posters bitching about how the UNO FB program is gone...even though no one went to their games, ever.

That's an interesting read. Would not surprise me in the least if this kind of financial malfeasance is now happening at UNL. I mean for 500 million, NASA gets a space station, and this is what Trev says the stadium renovation is going to cost? He's funneling money here and there I presume. When it blows up, it's not going to be a good look.

Why wouldn't the UNL stadium project happen? Because the Flatwater Free Press wrote an article?

You got a source on the 500 million dollar space station? Google says that thing cost 150 billion

I had no problem with that.. We have played Minnesota and Ioway more than any other on the B1G teams and I didn’t look at that like you have and further more it’s not happening in the first place..

Find my earlier post about that.. I included a link
Yeah, here is your link since you couldn't be bothered to look it up.
From the article its not clear to me what this particular space station this was supposed to be, as it seems there are perhaps multiple being built with maybe widely varying costs.

Just going to throw out a few numbers of random space related things
The ISS is estimated to cost $150 Billion
James Webb Space Telescope $10 Billion
A space tug boat to help ISS deorbit $1 Billion

So lets not get delusional.

I don't know. Something about this thread made me think of that random story.

Sounds like Cincinnati is looking at a similar project at a similar price point.

This is not a story. This is a hit piece. Smells like more of the bull**** NU soap opera that we’ve been slogging through the past 20 years. And as we know, that lazy mentality nearly drove our football program into the ground (we’re still not completely out of the weeds yet either).

I get that renovations like this take big bucks, but I’m gonna side with the guys who are putting my alma mater’s student athletes and fans first. As I posted about the sights and sounds of the being in the stands last Saturday, if our play, toughness, and progress on the field is any indication of how Alberts labors for Nebraska athletics and its fans, I’m riding with him and Doug Ewald all day long.

People have bitched about South Stadium for decades and he’s doing something about it. Personally I’ve sat in South Stadium a few times to let family or friends use my west stadium tickets and I didn’t mind it. We’re spoiled.

These improvements are long overdue. Trev wants Memorial Stadium to be fan friendly for the next 50 years. He was just on BRWU and talked about how we're the only school with zero debt. Wants to keep it that way. Won't start until half the money is there. He also talked about how to make up revenue from the loss of seats. It will be a challenge the next two years but N the end it will be well worth it.

Real weirdly timed article about Alberts while he was at UNO... Already been a few years and they're airing out this garbage??
Suppose it has something to do with UNL lobbying for $$ to renovate the stadium and salty ex-partner/employees with the University of Omaha

Everyone had trouble with Covid and it continues to this day. I'm in construction and we signed contracts on some projects in 2018. We are still arguing and paying the price because of what Covid brought. Sounds like a hit piece.

hey, it's not my job to go look up previously referenced sources every time one of you decides you want a link..

I don't care what the ISS or the Webb telescope costs. I just know, that around the time this was first brought up, I saw a headline about contractors bidding on a new space staton worth 500 million in grants. Now that probably isn't the final cost, nor did I say it was, but it's an incredible comparison..

If you think our lowly paid administrators are running a 100+ million dollar a year organization and aren't skimming off the top, then you don't understand how things truly work. There is absolutely fraud going on, and it happens in everything from your local city government to the latest military hardware, including NASA monies.

So, I don't exactly understand your problem with my post. I didn't write some hit piece.. I just read it, and said it seems interesting.

Now I guess people don't like to actually know how the sausage is made, and I get that.. you all want to believe everything is on the up and up and that is how society works. But it isn't the truth.

I wonder how all those prior UNO students feel about their increased student fees for an education went to bolster an athletic department? Why are regular students picking up the tab for that?

Like I said, whenever the lid comes off these kinds of things, it always looks bad. Not saying it will happen on this deal, but it could.

I think the delusion is very much alive in a lot of the minds around here.. but it's certainly not coming from me.

Sounds as if you haven't done any home improvements lately. I had a 4' X 15 ' sidewalk installed and the guy charged me $1000. The same guy charged me $300 for a similar pour several years back. I have a neighbor who recently had a 60 yard driveway installed and he said something about it being $80K I can see how something as large as a stadium project can add up to $500M in no time.

oh the construction industry is a huge scam anymore.. illegals doing the labor and it still costs an arm and a leg. I agree it's nuts.

I was appalled by south stadium. Legitimately shocked at my experience compared to east stadium.

I assume that is where you let your dog take a dump. Figuring two piles of crap are just as good as one. Reminds me of the movie Alice's Restaurant. They were looking for a place to dump garbage, saw some had been dumped down a hill, and figured one big pile was better than two. Not sure how any of this relates to Cornhusker football, but nice to see we both had epiphanies.
