I withdrew my name too. And I had about the same chance as he did.

Lol.

In case the next President of the United States calls me, I will not be interested in a Cabinet position in 2020. Thank you America!

Not sure who is in that coalition.

Virtually every post I have seen up here in regards to Alberts contains a phrase like "what are his qualifications" or "is he someone anyone else would hire as AD".

I realize this board doesn't represent all Nebraska fans but have yet to see anyone seriously argue for an Alberts hire. Maybe my head is in the sand.

Completely hilarious all the predictions on this board.

"The interim's AD's job is just a tryout for Rimington!"
Dave: I'm not interested.

"Tom is pulling strings just to get Alberts here!"
Trev: Take my name out of the hat.

"Nobody would be interested in Scott Frost if he wasn't a Husker"
Radio, print, and TV: Scott Frost is being mentioned as possible replacements in places like Tennessee, A&M, LSU, UCLA.

Yeah, as their seventh or eighth choice.

Don't believe everything you hear in the media. Not saying it's not true, but unless it comes from one of the parties involved, it means nothing.

I'm interested in what people will say if he goes undefeated this year?

He will be on everyone's if he goes undefeated - doubt it will happen as they still have to play USF, SMU, and Navy. Remember even Tom Herman lost 3 games in that conference last year.

But seeing as how Herman (Texas), Taggart (Oregon), and Fuente (Virginia Tech) all came out of that conference recently, Frost will be a hot name if he keeps winning. None of those guys stayed more than a few years.

If the next AD wants Frost and UCF wins their conference, it may be a situation like the Cubs a few years ago, where they fired their manager sooner than he deserved because Joe Maddon became available.

Where else do you hear it then? Usually the parties involved don't say, "Hey, we just reached out to Peterson, Stoops, and Saban."

After the Memphis beat down I see UCFast undefeated into the USF game at the end of the year, with some serious implications if both teams are undefeated.

Message boards first, then reporters use the message boards as "sources"

I have no information other than what I think.... But if you ask me, there is NO WAY Alberts turned down the job. If I had to guess, I'm thinking the search firm didn't consider him a top candidate and he knew it, so he was either told by them he wouldn't get an interview or his agent said it wasn't happening and he "pulled his name from consideration". That's just my 2 cents worth, again I have no information on the issue. I don't believe there is anyway the job has been offered to anyone yet as I have to believe the search committee is still narrowing down choices for interviews. I honestly feel like we have to get the best candidate, Nebraska ties or not. I think you trust the search firm and you be happy with the 3-4 guys you interview. Rank them 1-4 and hope your top guy takes the job, but be ok with it if #4 takes it as well. I would honestly watch out for the UCF AD, young (35), has good resume of hires (Johnny Dawkins - MBB & Frost - FB). It will be interesting to see how it plays out and when and if we hear some names of who they are going to interview.... Have a great day. GBR

They are actively interviewing candidates now. I would not be surprised if the UCF AD is a candidate.

Are you just saying that because of the article where he says to just focus on the present in response to questions about Frost possibly leaving? Seems like a stretch. Although he does seem like a good candidate.

I read an article about the job speculation for Scott Frost and typically an AD will talk about wanting to do what they can to retain him, blah, blah stuff, but he didn't do any of that stuff. Then a posters mentioned about the ties between Bounds and at their time at Ole Miss. All I am saying is that it wouldn't surprise me if he is a candidate.

He is the guy that took a chance on Frost and it has panned out. same with his basketball hire. What attracted me to this guy, based on his background, is his father being an AD at a big school. So he knows what it is like since his father has been doing it.

That’s a pretty big leap to say since his father is an AD at a big school, he knows what it’s like.

He could be a great AD for us, and his father’s experience could help him adjust I suppose, but his father’s role at Duke doesn’t automatically make him knowledgeable about being an AD at a big school.
