Top 50 player in 2017... He's the #9 point guard in the class... Just granted release from Georgetown... We were one of his top schools before he comitted to them

We're short on guards. If Cal wants him, then I want him.
That's punny lol. Isn't waters like 5'10 or shorter?

Anyway we are short on guards but we need shooters more than playmakers. Still wouldn't be a bad pickup. After Ullis I'm all for undersized 4 star points, and I say that without sarcasm.

How are we short on guards?

Green, SGA, Diallo, Baker. And we just spent weeks convinced that Knox was going to play some at the 2, when people were assuming that Diallo wasn't coming back.

This idea that UK needs 3 of everything is really only something that started in 14-15 (when it happened in part by accident). The back court in 10-11 was Knight/Liggins/Lamb, and that was about it. In 11/12, it was Teague/Lamb and Darius Miller spending some time at the 2. In 13-14, it was The Harrisons, Hawkins, and Polson.

And with Green, Baker, and SGA not really projected as realistic one and done players, you need to be careful about adding a 4th guard to that just to have a warm body. You want some space to recruit into in the 18 class.

Cause that was posted April 7th BEFORE Baker and Diallo were official, DUH.

We may need him simply for the possibility that Green sustains a big injury. We're redundant and protected for all other positions, but not Point Guard.. and that's the most important of the 5.

As far as I can tell, our weakness next year is depth at the #1, would be nice to fix that, no matter if the kid is in the 50's.

I'm thinking SGA will be more than capable of handling PG duties if needed.

Why is SGA not good depth but Waters would be? Not only does he out rank him, but John Calipari chose SGA when Waters was begging anyone with air conditioning in the dorms to take him.

I've read some "experts" say watch out for Shai and that the PG spot isn't a lock for Green. I can't say that is the case as I haven't watched him play.

Knox would play the 2 out of necessity. He is not a 2.

SGA is still growing it seems. I'm sure he retains some PG skills, I just wonder at 6'6 if he's better suited as a combo guard. Great passer but loose handles. I don't think he's a bad backup at all though.

Haven't looked at Waters yet, so admittedly I'm not sure.. but it seems he's more of the prototypical #1?

ANd when I say depth at the #1 being a weakness.. I still mean like a 7-8 out of 10. It's a "weakness" when it comes to Kentucky. But a strength for 97% of other teams.

That would be the only real position-based weakness we have, and we're still pretty good in that area, all things considered.

We have 2 PGs (5 & 4 stars)that's enough. Some people think we need to be 3 deep at every position. If (God forbid) one gets hurt, or 2 foul out, Vanderbilt will suffice in emergency. We are deeper at pg than when we won the national title last IMO.

thought someone said that guy was heading to WKU?
Yea I think that was more Goodman taking a shot at "$tansbury". Evan Daniels sent out a tweet immediately afterwards saying "Contrary to reports WKU is not recruiting Temont Waters.. Per sources".

Just stating the obvious. If some of you would look at the post instead of getting antsy to attack it, that would be nice.
Well, when I called you a jackass, I too was just stating the obvious. So I guess that makes us even.

It will be very interesting to see who comes back next year. Cal wants Quickly, Smart and Langford, but that will make for a very crowded backcourt.

Good Lord, folks. We have:

PG: Green
2G: Diallo
SF: Knox
PF: Gabriel
C: Richards
___________

PG/2G/SF: Alexander
PF/SF: Washington
PF/C: Killeya-Jones
2G: Barker
PF/C: Wynyard
Ultra-Utility: Vanderbilt

It's crowded enough already. Why would we want to bring in a head case with a head case dad?

If Waters is cool with minimal PT for 2 years until getting his big shot as a JR, HELL YEAH sign him up. After 2 years in our system, he'd be one hell of a JR starter.

Only player that Cal should even contemplate adding to this team would be Bagley, if he somehow manages to reclassify and is eligible.
