Player of the Year in the PAC 12. Just goes to show you how weak that conference really is. I like Travis but he's just not athletic.
He seems to be getting slower and less athletic every game.

Travis is the least of this teams problems.

Are you saying that instead of a 48 inch vertical leap he has an 81 inch horizontal lay?

I am just going to put this out for discussion, do you think Reid Travis has lost a lot of confidence in his game recently?
It makes no sense, he had 20 and 10 against Ayton so it’s not like all of a sudden he is going against long athletic guys.

Travis is trying to fit in. He has vertical zero leap but he is in the game. Not the player I thought he would be but he is in there. Going to end up a role player.
Had 12 boards, 10 in the 2nd half.
Not sure what game you watched.
Maybe he was more successful in the PAC12 due to his coach running better offensive plays that opened things up for him at Stanford. Here he has to force his way through 2 or 3 defenders to try and score, but doesn't have the size or athleticism to be successful doing that. Plus we are not very good at feeding the post. He is only successful here scoring when he gets one on one in the paint and can bully his way to the basket.
Recently he seems to be having problems one on one also offensively, but his rebounding is still a great asset to the team.
Welp, PJ has a great vertical and wingspan and he didn't do jack in this game. At least Reid gives great effort.
He actually sinks slightly underground when he jumps.
Seriously though, he’s still arguably the most reliable guy on the team. He’s got a ceiling of about 8/10 and a floor of about 5/10 every game. I like having a guy like that to provide a little stability.

If a got a chance, I would tell him. Maybe he wouldn't hit an old man. Either way, it wouldn't improve his vertical leap.
That might be, but he looks better than PJ. That effort tonight at grabbing boards was impressive. PJ was a ghost again. PJ can be dominate, but chooses not to. So I will take the guy who might not have as many gifts, but works his *** off. For not being able to jump he had 12 boards and 2 blocks to lead us in both.
Finishing over length isn't exactly his strength, but he played decent overall. Worked hard on the boards. I still have concerns about his game against the athletic bigs in this conference. We'll see.
I'd take Travis over PJ every day of the week and twice on Sunday. At least he gives effort and seems to care. Not like some others on this team.
I think it’s telling when the opposing teams game plan is to get Travis in switches and then let their guards drive and just finish Over him.
He has not lost confidence, he's just limited athletically. There's a reason why he's a 23 year old 5th year senior instead of playing pro ball.
We've gotten so used to our lineups being filled with NBA freak athletes that we think something's wrong when we see a player with a normal level of athleticism. I remember this board went through the same thing with the last 23 year old we had in our starting lineup (Julius Mays), we had fans who couldn't figure out why uncle Julius didn't just turn on the jets and leap through the air like our other guards.

I like Travis and we need him underneath. He does have limited athletic ability but I believe he would be better if we had a more dominating presence in the middle. As it stands, we have to rely on him too much for interior defense and that's really not his game. A stronger presence in the middle would open things up for him.
I'm happy to have him, he always hustles and keeps a good attitude and any team would love to have him. The competition has gotten better lately and the style of ball is different than the west coast. Cal knows what he can do and he is playing with 3 freshman, he will get back on track.
This is one of several times I've seen posters here falsely claim that he was PAC 12 POY. Why do you guys keep doing that?
Once again, he was NEVER pac 12 Player of the Year, not even close to it. It's weird the way posters like you keep falsely claiming he was. FWIW, the actual PAC 12 POY last year was Deandre Ayton ...you know the guy who was the Number 1 overall pick in the NBA draft.

Dude is the best guy we have on the glass on our team and we are a pretty dam good rebounding team, but whatever.
OT here, but while looking at his awards from Stanford I saw he had a brother who play for Penn St. His brother, Ross Travis played against Kentucky back in 2011 scoring 10 points, and 8 rebounds.

Travis is no problem . Over the course of the whole season he has been UK's 2nd best player behind KJ . He is a great player . Yes he is not very athletic but he is a hoss and plays hard as hell.
With that said our starting line up should be Hagans/Quick/Herro/KJ/PJ
