5 star recruit and McDonald's All- American. If Marshall can get a 5 star Grad transfer , Haith should be at least able to get a 4 star grad transfer for the Center position.

It’s pretty clear at this point that Gilbert isn’t a 5-star player, but he’s really good defensively and certainly isn’t lacking experience. Could be a nice fit in Marshall’s system assuming the personalities work. I don’t know what they’re gonna do in the frontcourt, but a backcourt combination of Dexter Dennis, Tyson Etienne, and Gilbert is still one of the best in the league. Assuming those guys don’t also jump ship.

Holly Hell! I had t been following the transfer situation of the Shockers, but it’s pretty obvious something is very strange in the heartland.

As for a transfer we (TU) should look at- Robert Allen F (Samford). I have watched him for two years. Athletic forward with some range and a great motor. The season did not go well for that team, but he was their best player. An unhearled guy from Florida, he would have to sit for the upcoming year (boo), but would have two solid years to contribute after Ugboh and Horne graduate.

Sophomore Rey Idowu transfers from Illinois State. 6-9 240 F.

Weird pickup to me. Averaged low single digit points and rebounds as a freshman and sophomore; and he lost playing time as last season progressed. He might be a good body to have on the front lines and he certainly has potential as a role player, but I'm not clear on whether he's likely to sit out or not. Seems like we might still need front court help next season.

Maybe the coaches know something we don't about the transfer eligibility rule changing next season.

I agree with aston, but I get it. Faith-based, Nigerian connection (yeah to Igbanu), same feeder as Urbancic- would seem an easy fit to the chemistry of the team (btw anyone else notice that we subbed Korita and Martins or Korita and Martins?). Good luck to Rey!
To all those that want a big "now" I don't think TU can sell that. You have 5 guys (Ugboh, Horne, Brown, Earley, Rachel) that will see time at the 4/5 position. Then you have 7 (or 8) for the G/F (KES, Williams, Joiner, Jackson, Gendron, Haywood, Urbancic, plus Rachel again). Where's the playing time? I get that most want to recruit over another player, but development is where TU needs to become "great," heck I'd settle for "good." I liked what I saw this past year from a development side from several players and I hope that continues, especially with Earley and Ugboh. Getting a transfer to sit and learn for a year makes sense. We need shooters, and I'm hopeful one (or two) of: KES, Haywood, Gendron, Urbancic...can shot 40% and that put us over the hump. #gettoworkboys

I don’t think we have many secured minutes at the 5 right now. Who is replacing Igbanu’s minutes from last year? Ugboh? Probably not. Earley? Unlikely he’ll make that big of a jump yet. Brown’s way too small. And Rachal is an important wing defender.

The only semi legit option is Horne, but I’m not sure we want to set our hopes on Horne in the post all season.

Heck, put Jackson there. With his dunks, rebounds and blocks he plays like a 7-footer.

I think Ugboh and/or Earley may surprise some people on the board. Gotta have Haith, Haith, Ha-ith.(Voice of Michael, RIP.)

I talked to Idowu right after he announced the transfer. Story will be up this morning.
