Transfer QB Stats

I was curious today and decided to look up our recent QB transfers' (transferred out) stats at their new respective schools.

Of the top 3 QBs on our roster the past 2 years (not including Costello) that are no longer with the program, here is what I found:

Combined 2021 Stats: 122 rush yds 239 pass yards. ZERO starts at QB.

Keytaon @ UVA: 78 rush yds, -1 pass yds
GS @SYR: 44 rush yds, 240 pass yds.
Mayden @SDSU: 0 Stats

But somehow (according to some) these guys were better than everyone else that we have/had and should've been starting--yet they were backups.

Huge problem with our offense right now is nobody on earth respects and/or expects Rogers to tuck and run cause he won't. Schrader is every bit as accurate as Will on 3 yard dump off passes. We'd be a better offense right now with Schrader than Rogers and that's with GS running Leach's scheme.

I know there are those on this board who don’t respect our offense, and I have reason to believe that they out number everyone else on earth.

Shrader is a garbage QB with a garbage arm that is somehow praised for a helicopter spin that didn’t gain a first down in a game we lost. And he’s not good enough to start for freakin Syracuse

Our QB recruiting has sucked since Dak. We've had serviceable guys like Fitz and Rogers but not a top flight QB. Dan gave up and JoMo was a bad recruiter/coach. We need one of the Leach guys to step it up.

It really has. No two ways about it. Our QB recruiting has been whiff after whiff after whiff & we've been signing 4 stars. Meanwhile, our rival keeps hitting jackpot

Our rival has had a revolving door of talented idiot-******** at QB for a decade. The only one that was not a super douche is Ta'amu. He was also a 2-3* juco guy that nobody wanted and pulled himself up by the bootstraps.

It is ironic that everyone thinks what the "Air raid" needs to be more productive, is a QB running. How about just call a freaking run play more often and have a balanced offense?

Another dumb take

Schrader COULD be a good qb but that doesn’t make him the right fit for this system.

How many qbs has leach ever had that ran it? Zero? 1?

Agree. No idea why he wasn't given a fair shot.

Tommy Devito is a 3-year starter at Cuse, and Shrader is already cutting into his PT. Don't be an idiot.

Meh. Never interrupt Shotgun Colonel Mark when he's busy praising Matt Corral as the next big thing.

A QB that simply has a baseline running ability is a plus for EVERY offense. See Johnny Manziel running the Air Raid at Texas A&M.

Problem is, those guys that can pass good enough AND run are hard to find. But even a willing runner can pick up some yards. That's been proven over and over. It's just another weapon.

Corral is the first high school QB signee they’ve had to stay four years in over a decade. They usually live and die by the JUCO transfer and will have to get a transfer for next year which I’m sure they will find a stud somewhere.

“Next big thing”? He’s already “A Big Thing” if you haven’t noticed. You may not like like (I personally don’t either) but at least recognize a guy with talent.

Idk man seems if you recruit a 2* that only holds a UT Chattanooga offer and he ends up breaking the all-time SEC record for rushing yards it's more than two-ways about it.

Ain't that the truth. A lot of brain dead in this thread.

Its Syracuse. Devito is not good. And Schrader is not trash either but if he was as good as our posters think he would be starting at Syracuse. If you can't start at the Cuse you are not very good

I think a lot of people are missing the point. I don’t know if any of those guys would be helping us win right now.

What I do know, though, is that you will not get any sympathy from me when replacing three “limited” 4* QBs with a QB that is clearly limited in other ways, and then comment week after week about the youth of the team. My mindset is simple. If you can’t use the tools that I’m giving you, then you better find your own and find it quickly. I’m extremely skeptical that Leach has found what he needs yet

Amen. Add to that, we missed on 2 transfer QBs, for whatever reason. Seems like we could have at least turned the reigns over to Shrader last year to see what he could do, after Costello self-destructed. Would it have been any worse? Maybe, maybe not. And I'm fine with Will Rogers.

But yeah, I'm tired of hearing about youth. It's just not true.

Fitzgerald was a LOT better than serviceable in the offense we were running at the time. One of the best QBs we've had at MSU (admittedly that's not a super high bar). Biggest problem Fitz had was he was the QB that followed Dak, so he'll never measure up to a lot of people. But he was a damn good QB in our offense.

Totally agree Pat. Fitzgerald was damn good. He just got crapped on by Mullen for his final year.

KT has been fun to watch up here in Virginia. He definitely wasn't a fit for the Air Raid, but he's been great as a utility player for UVA.

No kidding. The point is this offense is supposed to be an Air Raid. Now people want a Mike Vick at QB to give the offense another dimension, the run.

I cannot attest for Devito's talent level, but bottom line is that GS was (at one time) an SEC starting QB that became a backup and ended up transferring. He's now a backup for an annually mediocre ACC school. GS is a talented guy, but if you're a 3rd year player that transfers to find playing time, I'd say that a backup job on a mediocre ACC team is a disappointment.

What a dumb statement. Do you understand that there are many variations of a QB who can run? Remember Joe Burrow? Do you think he could run the Air Raid? How about Cam Newton?

And then there's that guy I mentioned......Johnny Football.

Will Rogers can run the ball too, so damn. Not sure why this is so hard to understand.

Just looking at stats, Devito may not be starting much longer. Shrader appears to be outplaying him pretty significantly. Hard to believe he's still just a sophomore.

We're the same people that hated Mullen's offense, Croom's offense, and Bellard's offense. If it is not producing wins and championships, it is worthy of derision and hate!

Okay, so we once pined for the air raid offense to brings us four star QBs and receivers and 40 points a game. But it ain't working. BURN IT!!!
