I'm not sure how many people actually hate the transfer portal. I'm pretty indifferent to it myself. I've heard it said that most of these portal kids are not improving their standing much. They tend to go down a level or two in the pecking order in terms of quality of competition. And when they get there a number of them are still not 1st team at their new school-- at least not right away. So going into the transfer portal is not necessarily a good move for the typical athlete to make.
For the school's perspective, it might actually be a good thing as once kids go into the portal, a school can cut them loose so they no longer count in their scholarship limits. Correct? And then schools can look through the portal to shop for what they need and see if they want to take on a new transfer.
I wonder if anyone around here has the time on their hands to track the Huskers transfer portal kids and what became of them?
