Any names that fit the quality center category? And is the Dayton center (Holmes?) officially in the portal?
He is not in the portal yet. My understanding is that Duke is waiting for a higher quality player than the bigs that are in the portal thus far. Holmes was option A but is still weighing his options. We’ll have to see how long Duke is willing to wait before pivoting….I don’t know the answer to that.

Or Pitino wants to build thru the portal to win now. He's not getting any younger.

Why waste time and energy building a program when you can buy a winner right out of the gate?
This exactly. Rick makes the tourney next year

IIRC, refs played a huge role in that outcome.
You remember QUITE CORRECTLY. While it's true Jared Jeffries dominated us, fact is we were two free throws away from tying OR WINNING that game.

Jason Williams missed a free throw after hitting a miraculous three pointer about 3 seconds from end of regulation. He was also fouled on the shot! His missed free throw would have TIED the game.

Nonetheless, Carlos Boozer managed to get the rebound and attempted a two handed Dunk put back. Booz was CLEARLY HACKED across the forearms, and should have been shooting two free throws with no time on the clock to possibly give us THE WIN.

Unfortunately ex Atlanta Braves catcher turned basketball referee Bruce Benedict swallowed his whistle. As Benedict left the floor, his tail between his legs, reserve Duke center Matt Christensen bellowed at him, "CALL THE FOUL, CALL THE FOUL!!!" I never saw Benedict ref another game. Good Riddance!!! Duke was screwed! OFC

Wow, this guy looks like a nice replacement for Lively. Only scored 5 points against Duke but had a lot of big games. Also, shot 59% from the field, 72% at the free throw line and had 2.7 blocks per game.

Would be a huge get. Not as offensively skilled as DaRon Holmes, but he is a better rebounder and shot-blocker. Made the ACC All-Defensive team, too. I'd be inclined to say give me Edwards over Holmes. Really, really hope Scheyer reaches out to him.

Word is that Edwards is looking for an NIL deal (not surprising) however he’s from the Netherlands and here on a student visa. I believe there are some rules that prevent those on student visas from benefitting from NIL the same way American students do, so it will be interesting to see where he ends up.

Kentucky and their Center Oscar however his last name is spelled, had the same issue. However, he ended up making some money.

Yep. He just entered the portal on Wednesday - and he's already visiting West Virginia this weekend. Seeing how WVU already secured Kerr Kriisa, I'm guessing they've already had some success navigating the international NIL hurdle.

We evidently haven't reached out to him. So, who knows if that's even a possibility at this point. Seems like he'd be a good fit, though.

The rumor mill is flying at UCLA. They are rumored to be landing Spanish 7-3 big man Aday Mara, who could be the #1 pick next year. (it's between them and Gonzaga) How this affects us is their 5 star freshman center Bona is rumored to be entering the portal. He is very good, a strong rebounder and finisher. He may stay in the draft though. But he would be a great pick up.
