Corey Bolds, 3* DT out of Paramus Catholic announced he is transferring from PSU...he was buried on the depth chart and they signed 3 highly rated DTs in 2018...he redshirted so he has full eligibility, If he stays home and transfers to RU he should have three years of eligibility left...we could really use a big body like this along the DL...6’3” 290ish...I’m hoping Ash and staff are reaching out...

Wasn’t he an academic issue guy when we were recruiting him?

No thank you. Best of luck to him but, blowing us off with a last minute offer from Franklin.

It would be a possible consideration if not inter conference with the eligibility. But no with these circumstances.

Don’t need DL players who can’t crack the 2 Deep of our B1G competitors.

I yield to the coach, who I am sure would be likely to say he’d give any player that is doing the right things off the field a chance to compete, regardless of whether or not we were his first choice. Penn State is on a different level than us at the moment, whether we want to admit it or not.

Different level yes but not to the extent we need to offer a third teamer on PSU.

Don't need ,let Monmouth have him if he wants to come back to Jersey.
Seems like the Nits are down to 85 without him, guess they were 1 over limit with him.

Ash passed on him in 2017, after Bolds had a poor senior season, why would he want him now? Even if he did, PSU would never let him transfer within the B1G East.

Plus, we have no schollies available.

This has to be the dumbest thread of the year.

Hate to break it to you but most of our current DL wouldn’t crack the 2 Deep on a majority of the B1G East teams...it’s one of our weakest units besides maybe Wilkins...

He was coming to Rutgers before Franklin swooped in and offered him a last minute schollie, I think I read he was good friends with Fred Hansard...anyway I do find it comical that we have fans on here that are “butt hurt” that he dissed us initially so now refuse to let one of our own represent Jersey...we need that level of talent...

Actually no, he wouldn't have to sit two years, but he would lose a year of eligibility.

If HYPOTHETICALLY he came to RU, he'd have to sit out 2018, be eligible in 2019 and 2020, and then he'd be done. He'd have forfeited his fifth year in 2021.

The way around that would be to go JUCO in 2018. He could then transfer to RU in 2019 with three to play three.

The best way for Rutgers to not be every NJ kid's safety school is to not actually be every kid's safety school when he can't cut it at the fancy blue blood...no thanks...
So when an N.J. kid commits somewhere else initially we should stop recruiting him lest we might be considered a safety school? We shouldn’t have taken Kiy Hester? What about Jonathan Hillman coming back as a grad transfer, why is that ok?

I thought if you go JUCO you need to stay two years? Or is that only out of high school? I know when kids don’t academically qualify and go JUCO a they MUST go for two years...

He's obviously not that talented if he has no chance of cracking the two deep at PSU. Hea also not "one of our own". He chose a different school. I doubt he plays power 5 football at all.

That's only if you go JUCO because you didn't qualify out of high school, which is not the case with Bolds.

Ash and co. know this situation and will make the pass or pursue call. Most of us don't have the slightest clue, I know I don't, on whether this is a kid who will fit in the program or not. If he can make the program and DL better, then I'm sure Ash will try and i hope we get him.

He is sitting behind two redshirt seniors and then a handful of 4* kids, that doesn’t mean he isn’t good and it certainly doesn’t mean he wouldn’t crack our 2 deep...

So tell me, why is it different that we took Hester back? Why is it different that we will accept Hillman as a transfer when he didn’t commit to us out of high school?

If Bolds was “processed” out because they needed to get down under 85 schollies then the coach may be willing to grant a waiver for not losing a year to transfer in the conference...from what I’ve read online it doesn’t sound like this was completely his decision...apparently he played a decent amount in their spring game...

He's not one of the 85 best players on their team. Hilliman actually has playing experience and Hester came back for a family situation. Bolds is neither good and may be an academic liability.

How do you know Bolds isn’t any good? How do you know he wouldn’t be better and have a higher ceiling than our current DLineman? He may not be one of their best 5 or 6 DTs but how do you know he isn’t one of the best 85? He may a lot of things or none of those, you don’t know and your post is quite speculative and lacking any substance...how do you know he isn’t transferring due to family reasons?

It’s different in that he would only have 2 years left after sitting out next year.

Why Hester OKed, never played a down for Miami, didn't leave bcausehe couldn't cut the mustard and he came back because of mother's illness.
Don't know how Nit fans would think of someone from PA picking another program and then wanting to come home because of illness in family, but Rutgers fans sem to accept that sometimes the need to come home outweighs RU not being the first choice.

But being not good enough like Bolds seems to be at Penn St isn't a good reason for him to be welcome at RU with open arms.
Cory didn't prove worthy base on his PSU roster standing and possibly being nudged out so the roster wouldn't be over the limit . While Hillman's play at BC proved he was spongeworthy

The difference is that Bolds committed to Ash and then the next morning of signing day he flipped to PSU after Franklin called him...no thanks go to Temple. It's not even like we're talking about an exceptional talent here anyway.

Someone in the know weighed on TOS. Sorry, can't tell you all because it is premium, but the SME/board analyst there told it like it is with Bolds and RU.

Wisconsin recruiting the hell out of Florida. . We can't get guys who can smell our campus from wher they live. We are a laughingstock gents. Our D line may be on a par with Princetons so put that testosterone away and think about where we are and who we are in the big scheme of things.I am not saying Bolds is Reggie frigging White but he's not chopped liver either.

Or he told him his place on the depth chart. A guy whose only in school to play football might want to go somewhere else, if he knows he has no shot at playing time.

There is no place for sour grapes in college football when you are trying to improve and win. If he is good enough to help and you can make it work somehow, you take him.
You have no idea. I've seen it first hand. Emotions have a way of rearing its ugly head because we are human. I bet if your ex did the same thing to you I doubt you would take her back with open arms.
