Not complaining, but was there a wreck or something? We left campus at about 900, and it took about 45 minutes to make it off campus.

We left two hours after the game ended

And it was bad. That new road going south that connects with Hwy 25 should help.

I know it was biggest crowd ever, but the traffic behind industrial engineering/ laundry didn't move for an hour and half. Then it took 45 more minutes to get off campus by highway patrol office. Never seen it that gridlocked before. Had to have been a wreck.

My understanding was that the grass lot parking had several cars get stuck from the rainfall. MSU had tow trucks helping people get out of the lots, and once the tow trucks finished, MSU opened up the roads to get traffic flowing again. This is what I heard though

What was up with the ambulance on the road by Lot 17 (no joke, the actual number)? That seemed to cause major issues in the area behind Dorman and the Bioengineering building.

I think they should just complete a loop by connecting 82 back around to 25 and creating more exits.

The traffic management was incredibly disappointing. We parked in the pay lot behind the health center. We attempted to leave at 7:45 and at 9:00 we were still in the parking lot. Since I live in town we just decided to make the 45 minute walk instead of waiting another 2 hours in our vehicle. Worst gridlock I've ever seen. They've got to get that road through the south farm built ASAP. I'm sure in the future that some people may decide not to come knowing that it could be 2 hours before they finally get off campus.

Makes sense but was that at 9-930pm? I guess inwas just surprised how late things were backed up.

The new South entrance to the university, similar to the north one across from technology park. It will have access off old 25 and come in at the vet school, should make things much better for people coming from Louisville and further south

We had our tailgate packed up at 8:00 and didn't get the truck around until about 10:15. Roads did not open until after 9

I can shed some light on this.

I happened to be at the intersection of 182 and (?) the big road that goes by sanderson lake at about 9pm. At that time, traffic was flowing off campus very quickly due to four highway patrolmen manning that intersection. Traffic never backed up more than maybe a hundred yards. I saw Auburn's football team leave, along with their tractor trailer.
Shortly after that, all four HP left. I got in my car and when i got back to that intersection 10 minutes later, traffic appeared to be backed up all the way at least to the dorms. I guess they either
(1) got hungry
(2) had a report of a bad wreck somewhere that required those four specific HP cars, or
(3) left to go set up a DUI roadblock.

One of the main problems is that the way they are directing traffic off campus, you can not get to the 82 bypass from campus and the red light that is at the chick-fil-a. If they would just let the red light at the chick-fil-a not operate and stay green along with stopping people from going through the intersection and only allow them to turn right off Octok to 12 and to head to 82 traffic will begin to move. Once I got to 82 and 25 south there was basically no one on the road. The main exit off campus for two hours after the game is in front of the sorority houses through town. The only way for traffic to follow easily is to force everyone north, south and east of campus, not through town. Once traffic gets to 82/25 then people can re-enter town from the west.

A lot of times it's just plain ole stupidity of drivers that mess things up. I don't see the point of blowing past the signs that tell you to merge and the traffic that has to go as far as you can before you are forced to. Then you practically have to cut someone off and damn near cause a chain reaction wreck. Hell after the USM game, some jackass in a 350z blew past everyone that was in the right lane turning off of 82 to get onto 145 and tried to run my *** off the bridge when he didn't make it to the exit in time to beat me there. I had news for him... Before he pushed my *** into the bridge and possibly over, the family truckster would have pushed his tin can into the median and into oncoming traffic. He punted and jerked it back onto 82 and on to Columbus

i never blame traffic management anymore. I always blame morons trying to get ahead of everyone else

Is this under construction or like on the 15 year plan? First I've ever heard of it.

Agreed. That's why I put space filler there, in hopes there wouldn't be an actual one.

Got to my car at 7:00PM in the lot behind the health center and didn't get to the highway until 10:00PM. I'm still ******** about it.

There was also more people there than had ever been on campus. The party all around the junction after the game was worth staying for

Did anyone else see the multi-car wreck on 82 just west of Northport? It looked bad, but I didn't see any major injuries. Not even sure how some of the vehicles ended up in the positions they were in.

to me, the rain had the biggest effect.

people were less excited to just "hang out" after they left the stadium because they all wanted dry clothes. This meant most of the crowd leaving at the same time

I saw it and was talking with a colleague today who is affiliated with the team. He said the Auburn police escort caused the wreck. The Auburn buses (non team - six or eight of them) were on 82 about to turn onto the bypass to get to the toll road. For some reason the troopers providing the escort blocked the whole intersection when the buses were making a that right turn. I think the cars involved in the wreck were trying to go straight through but could not, and ended up wrecking. He said there were five cars involved, but he didn't think there were any injuries. I went straight through shortly after it happened and met an ambulance around that main Northport intersection, but that was after stopping to fill up, so surely it was going somewhere else.

No construction yet, doesn't start till sometime next year. I bet they never finish it though.......
