Young is may the better player, but Green sounds like the better leader.
Green has guys excited about playing with him because he makes his teammates better.
Young would have given us a great shooter/scorer, but sounds like he is more of a "do it by himself" type guy.
Not to say Young isn't a good teammate. Vanderbilt was recruiting him before Green joined up. Vanderbilt obviously would have loved to play with Young. Porter wanted to play with him as his PG, which was part of the draw for Young, until Porter committed to UW. In fact, it wasn't long after that when Cal starting going after Green. No Young/Porter combo, so he went after the Green/Diallo/Knox/Bamba combo.
If Young wanted to come here, he had the chance, but Green said Cal told him he would take the first to commit between him and Young. Green just beat him to the punch. Green helped get us Diallo and might help us land Bamba and Knox, so I think we got the right guy.
Both are ranked very close to each other, so one is probably not head and shoulders better than the other.
I think Young goes to KU. He will run the show, most likely. Young, Newman, Vick, Bragg, and Preston would be a solid starting five. Young will have big shoes to fill trying to replace Mason.
