I opened an TDAmeritrade acct. I placed several stock orders that instantly went through at asking price.

About 5 orders said "open" instead of "filled." At the end of business, they said "expired." Why didn't my trades go through? I bought at the ask. Of course, the ones that expired are more expensive now than when I placed the order this morning.

Thanks. I'm a newbie and feel like a blind man in the dark.

If your in Ms.

I'd suggest you call the Ridgeland office.

Otherwise, I'd call the national number and ask for assistance.

They can look at your account with you, and review what is what.

(the Ridgeland office is temporally closed , due to the virus) but.... I bet someone will answer that call, during the day,
They are working from home)).

If the stocks went up past asking price fairly quick, they won’t fill... especially if it’s experiencing high volume.

What kind of trade? Market or limit? The app defaults to limit, so you have to either change the order type or put the limit price a little below the current price (for selling) or above (for buying). You probably also need to check out your bid or ask size versus volume. If you're trying to buy or sell a hundred shares of SPY it should go through quickly. If it's a couple hundred shares of class A Berkshire Hathaway you might be waiting awhile.

I rounded up to the nearest dollar on a limit trade. I guess it could have changed in that instant, but I didn't think it made sense since it happened 4x. I appreciate the help, guys.
