The game is not over. There should be 0.8 seconds left.
If they make the tourney, well they have a DNF on their score card.

The game was finished. Kstate came back onto the court 5min later and shot free throws.
Another incorrect hot take on this board.

If we have to decide who is more at fault, I agree with you that it was Kansas, but how can this be said with a straight face unless you just never watch basketball?

I watch basketball. A lot of it. I have been a season ticket holder since Howland has been here and I am one that actually goes to the games. And I acknowledge that most teams let the clock run out when it is an insurmountable lead. But that still doesn't mean that what he did was wrong. But what do you think he is telling them in practice? I can imagine a coach telling his team in practice "Hey, when it looks like all is lost, just give up. We aren't going to win anyway."

Watched the game video. The kid has every right to steal the ball at the end of the game and go for a shot. Why can't he pad his stats? Play to the whistle.
The KU player had every right to block the shot.
He was totally out of line standing over him and flexing. The Ref should have tee'd him up right there and none of the other **** would have happened.
So you blame the KU player first, Ref second.
Going forward, everyone in the melee on the floor or off the bench should be suspended for at least a game. KU #22 for at least 3 games if not a whole lot more. Chair move was STUPID.
The Ref should be suspended too. Seriously, you can't let that **** happen at the end of the game.

Why would they come back to shoot free throws, since it wouldn't matter if they made them or not?

That's my point. You always want to give everything you have. Some may say that a loss is a loss whether it's by 50 or by 1. Technically, that's true. But as for me, I would want to know that I absolutely gave everything I had for every second I was on the court. The KState guy didn't trash talk. He didn't do anything wring. All he did was play while there was still time left on the clock. That's legal. What the KU guy did was not. If he had just blocked the shot and walked away, it would have been. What the KState bench did was not. Suspend them. All of them. But the guy with the chair? Suspend him the whole year.

Examples can be given where they are hit hard and examples can be given where they are hit less hard than some think they should be hit. So at best its inconsistent in some people's eyes. What I am holding out for is what the result is from the NCAA penalties from the Adidas investigation. It will be interesting to see how that further affects Kansas(since it already did, see Desousa). I genuinely think a lot of the anger in some fans comes from how they perceive what is happening due to the information they consume. It creates narratives that seem to ignore/omit important parts of stories.

There are times when the public knows all of the facts. One of those is in our game against OM in 2018. Willie Gay got thrown out because it was his second personal foul when they assessed the whole team a personal foul despite him not even being on the field. Compare that to when Raekwon Davis of Alabama punched a Missouri player in the back not once, not twice, but three times. The refs saw it, threw the flag, and assessed a 15 yard penalty. Did they eject him? No they did not. What not? Throwing a punch is an automatic ejection (except if you are on Alabama's team I guess). Then, the next Monday, the SEC did the right thing and came out and suspended Davis for the next game. Except that's not what happened at all. They didn't suspend him. Instead, Nick Saban came out in his interview and said "We will handle this internally and it may mean missed playing time." WTF? The SEC should have said "You can handle it internally however you would like, but it WILL mean missed playing time because he is suspended for the next game." They didn't do that.

Could you imagine Dan saying after the LSU game in 2014 that "Dillon Day may miss some playing time and we will handle this internally"? I am sure the SEC would have corrected him real fast. But they didn't even wait for a comment from him. They issued the suspension right away.

Again, Weber told his team to not foul and to back off. Its a quote from him after the game. What Gordon did was dumb, but no it wasnt wrong when placed in the context of the rules. And what Desousa did by running Gordon down was dumb, but it also wasnt wrong when placed in the the context of the rules. Desousa then deserved a T for standing over Gordon, but thats where it all needed to end. Players get T'd up for taunting and nothing more happens- that is the reasonable place for nothing worse to happen.
But Kstate players and the bench rushed Desousa, KU players rushed the pile, and everything went to ****.

Really- the below quote is from Weber last night after the fight. He literally said what you cant imagine him saying.

"I had told them not to foul. I had told them to back off..."

What I said was IN PRACTICE. Can you imagine Weber telling his kids IN PRACTICE not to play hard all game? Yeah, for the camera he is going to say he told them to stop and maybe even try to take the some of the blame. But would he tell his players that IN PRACTICE? I highly doubt it. As AI once famously said "Man, we talkin bout Practice. Not a game. Practice."

No he wouldnt say that in practice because once again, its a situational decision. So the decision is made based on whats happening in any given situation.
I understand you said practice earlier, but whether he said it in practice or the game is a difference without distinction. Practice is when players learn to listen to coaches during the game. And in this game, Weber said to back off.

It would matter. If the line were 22, then shooting the free throws mattered since they lost by 21. See how that works? Its a recent rule change and its clearly for gambling.

Kstate'a Gordon was a total bag for pulling that **** in a blowout. Down 22 and stealing the ball with a few seconds left as desousa is dribbling out the clock? That's pathetic. What he is trying to do is lame.

Desousa ran Gordon down, blocked the shot, and stood over him. Basically giving g Gordon what he deserved. And desousa should have gotten a T for that, but no more.

But then all **** breaks out because the Kstate bench gets into it and everyone everywhere gets into it.

Watch it once or watch it 100 times- Kstate players started the fight.
And there will be a lot of ramifications for both teams as a result of the shitstorm.

Oh and then the teams had to come back out after all of this for the most pathetic of reasons- gambling. Dumb.

I didn't watch the game. I've only seen the videos of the last few seconds.

While I sort of agree that Gordon should have just let the clock run out, he's on the wrong end of a 22-point loss and he's likely frustrated.

In my opinion, what De Sousa did was even more wrong and completely unnecessary.

Kansas is up 22. De Sousa got careless with the ball, and Gordon stole it.

Why would De Sousa even chase Gordon down? His team is about to win by a lot. Just let Gordon dunk/shoot the layup. Game's over. (If Gordan says anything after the dunk/layup, then ask him to check out the scoreboard.)

When I watch the playback, I see this:
- Gordon steals the ball
- Elliot (#5 for Kansas) breaks into a sprint to cut Gordon off (Why? I have no 17ing idea. Game's over.)
- De Sousa trails the play and fouls the sh*t out of Gordon (I must admit that De Sousa totally capped Gordon's layup attempt)
- De Sousa then stands over Gordon in a manner that is 17ing guaranteed to start a fight, especially by a rival team that just got their *** whipped by 22 points.

De Sousa cannot stand over an opposing player like that . . . unless he wants to fight.

he picked up the chair

#22 should be gone for the year.....he seems to like chairs so let him sit in one the rest of the season

but he didn't use it. he won't get anything worse than the others that swung fists.

Can't wait to read the lawsuit her attorney files.

What would she be suing anybody about?

The whole thing looks like the WWF (or whatever they call it now) except the chair the guy's raising in the second picture is real. And why is whatever #22 is holding in the first picture blacked out?

https://www.espn.com/mens-college-b...an-big-12-suspends-four-brawl-vs-kansas-state

Desousa is suspended for the rest of the conference season- 12 games.
Another KU player got a 2 game suspension.
Then 2 Kstate players were also suspensed- one for 8 games and one for 3 games.

So- did KU slide? Or since they have the longer ban is it acceptable?

We can debate about whether or not the bans should be longer and more players involved. I won't argue those. I would say that the Kansas players deserved a longer suspension and they got one. Good job on the NCAA for doing the right thing this time.
