Fills a need. He isn't getting enough PT at Iowa and isn't the deadly 3 point shooter they want there either. From NY. Seems like a better fit for Pike. Random thought I had but makes some sense to me or am I way off here?

He's probably in line to start next year at Iowa and is the only plus defensive player anywhere close to Iowa City.......fans love Iowa and the offensive systems and sets, but giving up 90+ to Oregon is borderline ridiculous.....

Fran mcCaffrey secured a contract extension a couple of weeks ago....something tells me he's not going to finish that contract there.

he's too short. pike likes tall guards. so do i
So do I but I do like having 1 smaller quicker guard on the roster like we had with Young. It just doesn't seem like Joe is a fit in Iowa where they alwaysbhave guards who are 3 point snipers

Iowa has a bad roster, every player has a duplicate role on offense and it's strictly a roster constructed to move, cut and score. There are 2 guards there that can maybe offer something different in Toussaint and another backup, but it's really bizarre to have no other way to play. There we're really no other options for Iowa to go to and get stops on defense and they only want pick and pop 5s.....there's no shot blocking center anywhere on their roster.

The only good news for Iowa is, they're so efficient and effective running their offense that it is difficult to see them falling too far in the standings because it is difficult to prepare for and stop. But I can't see how playing basketball with 5 scorers and none of them closely dedicated to playing consistent defense is a path of any significant success.

The Touissiant thing is weird. My eye tells me he is a very good basketball player and someone that can really help Iowa.

he barely plays.

I think what this tournament tells us is that there a million guys playing in lower level conferences that can play with the big schools. If pike wants a shooter at guard and/or wing they are out there. Simple as that.

There sure are. It’s amazing how some of these guards in the mid-majors can shoot lights out.

I’m down on him. Did we recruit him hard out of highschool?

I think we can find a better penetrator and shooter.

The last thing RU needs is another guard who's a bad shooter. There's no reason to recruit a guard who's not a lights out 3 point shooter. This tournament has illustrated that there are a lot of good players out there. Eastern Washington had a 6-11 mountain man that was making it rain from 3 point range. Loyola-Chicago's center looked like an air conditioner repairman, but he put Cockburn in a blender and generally carved up Illinois like a turkey. There's no reason Rutgers can't get a few of these guys and develop them.
