Get the trailer park hillbilly style ( adds chorizo, bacon, pico, and green chile queso) or the pork taco missionary style (makes it a double decker with crunch )

Torchy's secret menu is fun. Look it up.

I get the crossroads (brisket and avocado) and it’s 🔥

their hillbilly queso is some of the best queso you will ever eat.

Oh damn, there's one in Baton Rouge. Gonna have to make a side trip and check it out.

I’d heard about this place for years. Ate at one in Raleigh and was not impressed at all. Just seemed like a chain taco place.
Did not get the hype. It wasn’t bad, but zero hypable.

I will say this about them… I really like the Crossroads that I get. And I really like the hillbilly queso. But the rest of their menu is blah.

Figured with your time spent in TX that you'd give us the hookup. Suppose to work GA this week but all the taco talk has me thinking I should work west TN instead.

As it grows flavor/ ingredients get lost. 10-12 years ago it was legit. Way too many locations to be that good now. With that said, know what you are comparing it too... Torchy's is better than most chains with more than 10 locations will ever be.

Torchy's is damn good for what it is, but when I lived in Dallas it wasn't in my top 10 after 2012 or so. That said, it's better than 99% of tacos available in the US.

I’ll grant you that. In most cases, when these places start scaling up, they’re never as good as the originals.

I still love Torchys, I think the green chili queso is my favorite in Austin
Brushfire and fried avacado are great, and the trailer park is a staple.
And their monthly special is usually worth checking out.
But I'll admit there have been some recent meals that weren't as good as previous, hopefully it's covid fault, as many restaurants haven't been as good lately. Still better than most

Hit up El Mero instead and get the fried chicken taco if you’re wanting a Memphis original. Torchys is good, but I have found that the El Mero fried chicken taco is superior to that of Torchys. The queso is amazing though. We have tons of great food options outside of BBQ, believe it or not, very close to the Liberty Bowl.
ALSO - check out Cooper Young Fest before the game and grab a Pronto Pup.

Good luck getting in there on the weekend. That place stays packed and on the weekends its worse. You can go across the street and eat at Gus's then Gibson's fordonuts. I've heard its good from people that work close by.

^^Brushfire. Good taco. I always liked there breakfast tacos too. Would pick them up for customers quite often.

All of these little chains are good in the beginning, or at least better than they are now. There are several chains I can remember the original. I think Fuzzy's was the first in Fort Worth. Torchy's down in the trailer park in Austin. Then Rusty Taco and Velvet Taco started in Dallas.

Rusty went downhill immediately after franchising. Fuzzy's went to complete and total ****. Torchy's and Velvet Taco are kinda the best of the bastards because they are all store owned I believe. But I remember all of these little joints when they were just one location. Miss them all except Fuzzy's. They ruined it so bad I can't remember if it was ever good.
