Let me fix that for you: Totally different team when we're not playing NEC/MAAC trash.
We're not that good but I don't think Pikiell is getting the most out of these players. I think his substitutions are terrible.
playing too many home games against weak sauce schools do not prepare us for the road.
Call me crazy......and yes I know SFA beat Duke.......at the RAC we would have won.
Maybe stage fright, or the effects of hostile crowds on nerves? Is the background behind baskets vastly different at the RAC from what we see at large venues?
This isn't a one year situation but rather decades of watching futility on the road.It really comes down to recruiting players with shooting skills that consistently produce points regardless where the game is played.The Pitt game was supposed to have added motivation because Coach Knight was returning to the school where he played and coached for many years.The team clearly didn't respond with a sense of urgency .
I also think we win at home. After last year I hoped we were somewhat beyond the old story of dangerous at home and constant road pasty. But I guess not. Pike does need to boost his recruiting level. Finding a high energy assistant known for recruiting prowess would help.
