Swear this town is a magnet for tornadoes. Just slightly south of the one in 2014

Not sure if our friend Matt Wyatt and family still live in Tupelo, but sure hope they are ok, as well as everyone else in the area. Looks bad right now.

I hope (pray) that I'm correct in saying this, but just telling you what I saw on correlation coefficient (debris tracking product). It looks like Central Tupelo might have avoided a direct hit because the TDS stopped showing up as it crossed directly over the Central part of the City. The debris signature looked extremely dangerous on the SW and NE side of town, so I assume there will be a good bit of damage in those areas. Radar doesn't always tell the whole story so I could be wrong.

From the early reports, the damage seemed to be about a mile SE of the actual velocity signature on radar.

Everything I’ve heard says the central part of town is mostly ok, more damage towards
the east side. Guess we’ll see in the morning

That's where I live. It was nothing like 2014 but nobody was taking anything for granted. I guess it got bad enough it scared the dogs. Got 2 labs and usually have to coach them into the storm shelter. Last night they just fell in line and walked in ahead of some of us. One I had to physically force out when we went back to the house.

These are the systems that drive weather guys crazy. The risk was slight and you ended up with individual storms from Yazoo City north to Calhoun City and Tupelo. I never knew till I got an alert from one of the systems I have set up to let me know if my family is having bad weather.

That thing looked like a monster on MDOT.
