All... The Ihsa schedule is now up on their site. I have been watching the open dates section for quite some time wondering if the Ramblers have filled week two. The schedule I just checked shows no week two. Is that correct? Anyone.... Ratsy

As far as I know it's still open.

Loyola is still open for Week 2. I think there will be a solution, though. Phillips has both Morton (Berwyn) as well as DeKalb for Week 2 on the IHSA website. CPS's website has Phillips only playing DeKalb. So Morton has an opening for Week 2. Morton is probably not a playoff contender under any circumstances but no doubt would like the gate, while Loyola has advertised that they're willing to travel. So Loyola at Morton makes sense. Reasonably short trip, Morton should get a nice revenue boost, Loyola probably gets a win without too much effort, all sides get what they need.

All.... That is correct. The open dates Ihsa list still shows those two teams still needing a week two game. I'm sure both schools know the other needs a game. Massey by the way has that game 48-0 Ramblers. That could happen before the first half. Ratsy

Soucie said that Phillips, DeKalb, and Morton were trying to work out a solution. I wonder if Morton is holding out for Phillips. At that point, DeKalb may not be so enthused about Loyola - they have some real aspirations.

I took my first look at "Massey's" site and all I can say is... Put the pipe down and back away!!!

All.... Actually I will be surprised if these two meet. The Mustangs won't want any part of the Ramblers. Interestingly I ran across Calpreps 2024 project a game page. It was 62-0 Ramblers. You keep that pipe Sparta .... Ratsy

It is possible that in 2 years DePaul has Loyola’s number

In the future, this will be reffed to as a ā€œcautionary taleā€ when replacing your athletic director

Doesn't help Loyola's playoff points in any way

Sure would have.
1. Gets them another win.
2. Morton might win a game or two. I could easily see them beating Proviso East and Thornton Township. A win over a 2-7 team gets you two points and a win. Significant impact on seeding, especially with Mount Carmel now in 8A.

I was thinking of your #2 point above - They're probably otherwise going to play someone who at the end of the season will add more than two to their opponents wins total.

St Francis not in the top 20???
They have a pretty impressive resume in that week 9 win from a few years ago. They can also hang their hats on back to back semi final losses to Naz. Never any reason to hang your head when you get beat by Naz.

St Francis lost another high end guy to Elgin

I don’t know what is going on over there… but it’s something

Ever think that with the talent they have the kids that are transferring are realizing they won't be starters? St. Francis is stacked and are the preseason favorites to win 5A.

Kid that left had an offer from Notre Dame but chose to play for Deon in Colorado

he was going to start this year

That program might need to make some changes… that is a lot of high level talent leaving

they also play a legit tough schedule

I am sure whatever is going on will come to light
As others have said, they’ll be just fine.

I don’t know any CCL team that has an easy schedule. Well prepped for the postseason.

Loyola freshman went 2-7 last year while DePaul college prep went 6-2-1

me thinks that there is a shift in where that areas athletes are going

Don't brush over the fact that Loyola's Freshmen beat DePaul head to head. Chill out. The Rams aren't there yet

Just in case old threads do not make the transition to this new site, I will repost my predictions for the top ten teams at the end of the 2025 season. This list was originally posted on May 1, 2025.

1. Marist
2. Mt. Carmel
3. Lincoln-Way East
4. East St. Louis
5. Loyola
6. Glenbard West
7. Batavia
8. Nazareth
9. Maine South
10. Lockport
Well above was close on MC but Marist had a tough go this past seasno - need to shore up QB or its gonna be another tough season

Yes, I took a shot with Marist and missed badly. They were not as bad as some might think, but in that conference against that competition a team will not do well if they are just ten points worse than one thinks. I also consider it a miss that I did not have Brother Rice in my preseason top ten.

Otherwise, I think the predictions were okay, but not great. Mt. Carmel won the 8A championship and the Flyers made it to the championship game, not that those two results were difficult to predict.

Of the remaining seven teams, three made it to the semifinals and two others made it to the quarterfinals. The two that didn't were still decent predictions. Glenbard West lost in the second round to Downers Grove North but they were the outright conference champion in the West Suburban Silver Conference, which is a top-three public school conference in the state. As anticipated, Loyola took a step back from the previous year but were still pretty good. They gave Mt. Carmel two of their more difficult games and also beat 5A champ St. Francis by 22 points. Still, I concede that Loyola was very inconsistent for the year.

Overall, I'd give the predictions a C- grade, but perhaps I'm going too easy on myself.

Thank you for remembering the predictions and checking back on them.

I don't know why they got placed in the Blue but with all MC, BR and LA have coming back the next 2 seasons they will more then likely have a similar situation as Iggy did the past couple years

What was the thought process behind Marist? I don't mean this in a smart *** way but what did you see that nobody else did? They had a couple good linemen but they were replacing a ton of players with a lot of unknowns

Everyone knows that MC next year is the best team ever assembled. 2 score favorite in every game. I heard they are randomly just going to attempt dropkicks just to keep it fun and interesting for the kids!
You were close on your prediction
