I'd truly be stunned if he sat it out....I can't say it for sure, but its just not in his character. He's not going to Penn hoping to leave a NFL Draft pick, he's going for the Degree. He's stronger and faster now with a chip on his shoulder, he's going to be dangerous. Some Big Ten teams really dropped the ball on him. I don't see how Northwestern, Illinois or Purdue couldn't have benefited greatly from having a kid of his caliber on their team.
I agree. He's going to Penn so he's not getting an athletic scholarship. Hard to see how he doesn't get, at a minimum, PWO offers from NW, IL, etc. For certain kids, the opportunity to earn that scholarship as a walk on at a good academic school would be enough to get them there.

I have to imagine WWS should be a top 25 team they return 13 starters from an 8-4 quarter final team last year and will add in two D1 prospect juniors from a very strong junior class and the best player in the senior class who didn’t play last year is back. The overall talent and numbers in the program are really improving and getting a lot closer to what it was 10 years ago.

Looking ahead seven months, what does MC have in the hopper? Are they expected to be as good as they were in '19? Will the spring be an extended tryout for the sophomores and juniors?

Just my opinion and this topic was just speculation about the top teams, I believe with the lose of AJ and soph class coming up didn’t have the best season last yr, in my opinion they won’t be in top 10.
You totally have the right to your opinion. Beware they bite on this board! Call me Bro if you want!

I’m guessing the 2021 fall team will be similar to the 2019 team. Very talented junior class that will be a big make up of the team. That class as Freshman just dominated the majority of the games they played...9-0...and they didn’t lose any of the main players to transfers.

Well I guess we will never know since Illinois won’t have a state final this year.
Since you have you giving us your opinion this is my opinion. Warren is maybe #4 maybe. Warren had one good season last year only to lose and not score a point in the final. LWE showed they were better on offense and defense. IMO opinion they are still the team to beat especially after not allowing Warren a point in their last meeting.

Don't know Shaw from Adam, but what are you basing the state champ comment off of? If Hawkins never took the top of the podium I doubt Shaw would. Has he even wrestled before?

The point of comment is that a Wilmington all-state quality wingback probably is a stud wrestler in winter, not a basketball player. Hawkins is a prime example...or Vercelli...or Liauromatis...or Pretto @ fullback. Or Bobby Shields, a 180 pound football center who was 4th at 145 as a senior...

I doubt that Shaw has wrestled. I also doubt that he pulls a Sam Jones, who after being the returning leading scorer for the basketball team decided to wrestle as a senior & qualified for state at 220 for the Wildcat runner up wrestling team in '17. Jones was the left end/receiver on offense and OLB/DE...

Oswego's a top 10-15 team. They return 13 starters from a team that was 6" away from beating Bolingbrook at Bolingbrook. Three of their starting offensive lineman return (and their starting TE), their All-conference QB and WR return as well. In addition to the returning WR they will have a receiving corp that will feature a 6'5" sophomore, 6'3" JR and another 6'3" SR (that recently committed to St. Xavier). The TE is also committed. Starting RB was the starter as a sophomore and a JR. RB that will be exciting to watch. On defense they return two all-area/all conference DE's (both with some lower level D1 offers), all of their starting LBer's return (one of which broke the schools tackle record last season), an all-area Safety returns and what was once thought to be their weakest unit is now possibly their best with a transfer from Dekalb (principals son with a D1 offer already and FBS interest) who was All DVC as a sophomore and another starting Corner from WA. Looking forward to a great season.

Oh gotcha......misunderstood what you were saying. But I totally agree with you. I bet 95% of the state placers Wilmington has had were serviceable as football players.

Need to put SHG up there because after what Rochester did to St. Rita at state!! If you remember SHG gave them a close game and SHG was filled with mostly juniors.

If we define only making it to state as having a good season I’ll agree. That senior class has a helluva run winning playoff games three straight years, making it to state for the first time ever and yielding 60 points for the entire season.

if that’s “good” then I’d love to see great. But calling what this program did as one good season is simply Mis-informed.If you had any idea where the program was prior vs where it is now you’d rethink that statement.

Lake,
First off you make good points and I agree they have improved and appear to be a program building something special.
The fact Wishbone didn’t have East on his list shows a total lack of respect or stupidity. I appreciate that the Warren program is becoming one of the top teams in Illinois but at some point they need to win a championship before pounding their chest about how great they are.

2019 heading into the final all East heard was how great Warren’s defense was and how they had the best defense in Illinois? East showed Warren they had a damn good defense themselves by out playing Warren at their own game in the final and holding Warren’s offense to zero points.
No disrespect to Warren Seniors they had a good run during their 4 years. I won’t get into it about what the East seniors did in their 4 years because your smart and can look it up but it wasn’t good it was great.

I wish the Warren program well and hope they continue the path they are heading because it’s good for the state of Illinois.

Great points... Warren is on the seen to stay. East played a good game the game was decided by a couple plays. It's a new year and Warren has reloaded. It is a top team on the north side of the city. Home of six flags and gurnee mills 🎢

I’m sure LWE will be really good again but just because I think they won’t be as good without AJ is just my opinion, the only information I have on these teams is reading all the Offensive transfers coming into Warren to bolster there offense which I thought was average last yr with a great defense, I know LWE will have a stout defense again just don’t know about there offense and I seen there sophs play and there was no offense there. Before AJ LWE had a bunch of 3 loss yrs.
