I'd love Brad Stevens or Dan Hurley ... but that is not happening. I'm all in on Oats.

He makes $5 million. He got Alabama ... ALABAMA ... in the Final Four with a whole new roster.

Double his salary and start winning with prep work, analytics and a coach who has a little A-Hole in him (which will serve us well).

Idk why everyone ASSUMES Danny Hurley won’t come but some of my friends who are fans at duke and other schools think he’s gonna be the guy. That’s what they think of our program.

I think you call Hurley, Oats, Donovan, and Pearl in no particular order and just gauge interest and you pare the list down based on that interest. I might include Izzo on this list, although I haven't seen his name mentioned, and I don't really think he'd leave Michigan State. But you don't know if you don't ask.

Just because you call Hurley first and he expresses interest, doesn't mean that you immediately sign him. If he's the only one that expresses interest, then there's your answer.

Personally, I don't think Hurley will be interested, but you won't know unless you ask.

It needs to be an exhaustive search. Get to know how the would-be coach would handle recruitment, team building, X's and O's, NIL, the transfer portal, etc. The situation at Kentucky is going to be different than the situations at their current team.

What would really suck is if none of those 4 express any interest. Then you have to go to the next tier, that's probably where I would put Scott Drew. Another name I haven't seen mentioned might be Mick Cronin, I thought I'd read a rumor that he was kind of wanting out of UCLA - but I don't know if that was true.

I'm not suggesting that it should be any of these names, I'm just thinking outside the box a bit.

Never to Mick Cronin, I’d rather Cal have stayed if we got that low.

I might also urge caution when trying to equate current success with success at Kentucky.

Using Hurley as an example, just because Hurley has had success at UConn the past two seasons, doesn't mean he's going to have success at Kentucky. I'm not against calling Hurley, but there's more to it than just their success with their current team.

And just because another coach maybe hasn't had success with their current team, doesn't mean they won't have success at Kentucky.

One of the reasons I mentioned Cronin, was to take a look at former Pitino assistants-turned-coaches.

Of the last 4 coaches at UK, Pitino was, at least in my opinion, without a doubt the best X's and O's blended with recruiting coach. Granted, that was 30 years ago. I don't want Pitino back, he's too old. But if you consider his coaching tree, coaches that have coached under him, that may be the best way to get a Pitino-like coach now.

You have to swing for the fences and Hurley would listen you know why??? So he could pull a cal and get a massive contract. One way or another uk or UCOnn this opening will break the bank for him:

I like Drew; recruits like Cal and Forrest Gump would be a coaching improvement. I've live through 7 UK coaches and all that were sober(5/7) won at least one championship. If you can win a title at Baylor, you can win one at UK.

I want Hurley. That guy is what we need. The chance is very low though.

I don’t like Oats but I will take him IF he keeps his head out of his *** and does t repeat what happened at Bama player wise.

Wright doesn’t excite me. At all. I don’t think he has what it takes to play the NIL game.

😂. Yeah, we’ll just tell the two time defending national champion coach that we appreciate the interest but he’ll have to hang tight while we talk to other people. Come on man. 😂

Hurley is a product of the same mold Cal was in the beginning. Get the best players and have them buy into what your selling. At the moment uconn has last year's team winning it all, with what is left they are about to possibly win again by adding youth. Next year they get younger! It boils down to this as well. We simply didn't win lol. No guarantees that this hot ticket Dan Hurley can duplicate this current success. We have seen it time and time again. Great runs, and great failures all mixed in. Crum, Rupp, k, Dean, Roy, boehim, list goes on and on. Glad Cal is gone! I prefer we get a hungry coach. Tbh. I'm not sure Hurley is as hungry as we all think. I just think this team been there done that in the shadows of last year's team doing that lol. Cough, cough, 1996-1998 run. Ya.
