Glad to hear it! Sounds like a great candidate who won out over other good candidates and maybe even better known candidates. But you can only offer the job to one guy and I couldn't care less about how well known a guy is. Really just about all of the best assistants we've had at NU were not big names when they came here.

Based on the 2019 Cal commits, it looks like he has ties to the Phoenix area, which I think is fantastic. I would like to see us snag Arizona's top talent.

He was in charge of recruiting at Michigan for a year, I’m excited to see him on the trail getting some DLine commits...we’ve been severely lacking in that dept. for years

Seems like a great fit all things considered.
Hopefully spring ball is productive for this defense cus they need to make a big jump in year 2... with same system and only one coaching change. Lots of veterans with plenty of up and comers mixed in. Time to get serious about bringing back the Blackshirts.

Thought he deserved his own thread, and not somebody else's.

My biggest concern is can he handle cold weather. lol He is a California guy, spent years in Hawaii, then to Fresno St, and to Cal. He only spent a year in Michigan before leaving and only 2 years in Cleveland before leaving. Obviously I say this half jokingly. This program needs stability, I just hope we can keep a coaching staff together for more than a year.

I was thinking the same line, but then he was at Michigan for a few years.

You worry too much. He's been climbing the ladder. Nice hire IMO. Former recruiting coordinator with some NFL experience and ties to an area where we have no presence on the staff. I like it. He was the lead recruiter for Robinson for Cal and no doubt has some connections to other recruits we want. This is a hire who while he's moved around a bunch, may turn in to a long term assistant for NU. Not to mention it may provide a few volleyball players for Cook to work with.

Interesting you bring up stability. My first thought in reading his bio is a guy with seven kids is probably looking for stability and decent pay. There aren't many coaches that can offer the stability he gets by hooking up with Frost.

Dang seven kids is a bunch if you're moving every couple years and they never get to experience "home".

IMO he's in it for the long.

People were trying to compare the cost of housing in California to the cost of housing in Lincoln. He doesn't need a house. He needs to buy a Super 8. He got a roughly 80K pay raise to come to Nebraska. That ought to help with the grocery bill.

I was thinking the same thing. Every time they move and have new schools, doctors, dentists etc. it must be like herding cats.
