Steve says he is “extremely confident” that Hughes will remain on staff in some capacity. Probably coaching safeties.

Good move there.

Yes, I hope Hughes stays, but it would be better suited in a off-field role. He can still recruit MS, but he doesn’t have all the relationships he did 10-15 years ago. Still better than most in MS, but Brad Petersen needs to swap roles with him. Petersen is the guy who knows every coach in the state and needs to be able to sit in parents living rooms. Don’t get me wrong - keep Hughes, but bring Petersen on the road recruiting. Also, bring back Austin now

Tony Hughes is going to retire if we don't give him an on the field position. Not keeping him on the field would be a huge mistake.

Hughes is probably going to be the safeties coach from all indications, y’all can relax.

Apparently the entire offensive staff, S&C staff, and special teams coach are likely coming from Pullman. Could possibly bring his corners coach and one of his LB coaches. If so, and if Hughes is retained, that only leaves a couple of positions to fill.

This is the truth. Pat Austin will not be back at State.

This is where I am totally ignorant, yet amazed at the same time. I remember the name Pat Austin in years past. I remember Will Redmond. I’m sure there is other instances I remember that are not coming to my attention right now.....

Is there literally no one else Mississippi State University can reach out and hire that has more ability in compliance than this guy. Things other schools skate on day in and day out with regards to compliance, he will get us shut down over. Why why why is this the best we can do?

Well...Bracky needs to BE GONE and let the door hit his a$$ on way out!
He runs way to tight of a ship for an sec team and throws in the towel with Indy boys to much.

If you’ve coached MS football there’s a really, really good chance you know him. If you are a state fan and you can choose between him or Hughes to recruit the best kids in the state, you want Petersen to do it.

Don’t let someone hold you hostage over retirement. If that’s what he wants to do, let him do it. If he needs a couple more years, get it in the office
