Best this season that I've been a part of so far.

People were hyped. No doubt the Purdue win contributed. It was nutts in there. Bonkers. Very few Maryland fans...one lady near me was too loud for a visitor imo. But was with husband and kids and just having fun, in good spirit.

This defense may be the best Pike has had.

Keep it up!!! See you Sunday!

this group really buys into Pike's defensive philosophy. They know it's their bread and butter

The crowd was more impactful in the first half causing Maryland to have shot clock violations.

Definitely true. Maryland started hitting some 3s, and getting some nice penetration early in the second and it cooled off a bit.

Crowd was awesome.
Although I will say our aisle was the busiest I’ve seen it while the clock was running.

Constantly people in the way.
The well mannered lady that sits behind me even muttered under her breath at one point “I think they just came for the cardio”. Then yelled “take a seat”.

Great to have a packed house of 98% Rutgers fans but a bit stranger.

Crowd was really good tonight. Maryland fans did try to be disruptive a little but nothing on the level of Indiana or Michigan. Probably the best crowd all year, similar to Indiana.

Same in our section. Something with Maryland fans. They were up and down the entire game and bitched about us cheering too loud.

Better than Indiana game?
Yes, for me. There was a point during the first half run, when Hyatt got a block and a few seconds later Simpson made his dunk to go up 15-4, where it was the loudest we've ever heard it since we moved to 102, five years ago, which for me, probably makes it the loudest I've heard since PSU in '89. Maybe. Recency bias could be playin a role, lol.

Interesting.

It was loud tonight….but not even close to loudest in the past 3-4 years. I’m in section 213.

The loudest I can remember all came in 2019. Seton Hall run or opening of Purdue game. Both were way louder.

I thought it was a solid crowd tonight but nothing special. Nonetheless, the RAC is special

There’s been so many loud moments/games the past few years I’m losing track haha.

That Seton Hall run was loud. And the Illinois game last year someone else mentioned sticks out to me also.

Tonight was solid…there were some empty seats scattered around and the student section wasn’t filled to the brim like it is when they’re in session.

different.

so the place was more jacked pregame for Indiana, for this game the crowd was a bit late but eventually got there, also I thought for Indiana, the students were better and thats understandable given that they are on break now

very loud in first half causing shot clock violations and rewarding the team for incredible defense

2nd half I think for the first 5-6 minutes it was a bit quiet but revived itself when Mulcahy started taking over and that flagrant foul....overall a very good crowd but Ive heard louder in recent seasons and because it wasnt a nailbiter we didnt need them down the stretch.

I thought it was pretty subdued given a name conference opponent. I usually judge the crowd by how insane it gets when they play the Hum at the under 8 timeout in the second half. Not much juice at all. Having said that, it's still the RAC and better than any other place.

oh i know that point you are talking about, yes, i was just taking that sound all in, I think sometimes the fans need to take a breath, RU just built the lead up to 16? I think thats why really....I think the crowd was really good when it counted

Better than Indiana game?
I didn't think so and I thought there were more MD fans than I thought at the start when they were up 4-0 but really didn't have much to cheer for...Nice student section with them not being in school...Thought Indiana was louder...

Crowd was loud at key moments.

Individual moment that stood out was when Simpson threw down the fast break dunk after the Hyatt block on the other end. Deafening response from the crowd after that.

I agree with you both. Good when it mattered. There were also a couple of moments where, I swear, it was the quietest I'd ever heard it. Like, quiet.

I think it is awesome when the RAC crowd gets louder as the shot clock goes down and appreciates the defensive effort on possessions. Keep it coming RU fans!

I lost my breath on that play. I was jumping and screaming way more than a nearly 58 year old man should be.

Sidenote - Not sure if you are aware of this but you were briefly on the jumbotron last night.

Yep, we were going nuts, too. And yes, we were on a couple of times - we almost always are on once or twice a game, as our crew is one of the few groups down low (row 3 102) that goes a little crazy, regularly, including standing up at key moments, so the camera guy likes us, I guess.
