I just found these on twitter and had not seen it before. This was from Joe’s last spring at Penn State. I know it is just a spring game but that shows he can make the throws. How consistent can he be? Seems like our people think he will announce for us after next weekend at this point.

Throws a nice ball. That's all his completions. How many incompletions did he have that day

He was 17-24 for 3 touchdowns and 216 yards that day, but that really was not the point I was trying to make. Consistency is certainly the key we need (which is what you are alluding to) but this at least shows that he is not some big fullback that can’t make throws. He has the arm talent to place balls where they need to be in this offense. We will see if he can mesh with our below average receivers and throw it consistently. The fact that Joe made comments while at Penn state that this kid almost beat out McSorley his first year on campus makes me think he is better than what we have.

I don’t know what’s more exiting to watch in this video: a QB that knows how to throw or receivers that actually know how to catch a ball.

Thanks for sharing. I know it's a highlight video from a spring game, but I'm in. Not proclaiming him savior, but I think he will improve our offense.

I’m not sure how big the receiver portal is. Never seen a picture of it. Do we get everyone that caught a ball in the video as part of the package?*** If not, I’m afraid he will look like Fitz 2.0.

He is not going to look like Fitz 2.0 IMO. He may highlight how awful our receivers are, but that will be different than looking like Fitz. Fitz was so bad throwing the football and reading defenses that we could not tell how bad the receivers were most of the time.

he appears to be very quick on his feet which i like. he scrambles really well from the video i've seen. he seems to be pretty accurate throwing. The main thing that i've seen about him as that he has a quick first few steps when he does run which i like especially when scrambling. he doesn't tiptoe behind the line. it's a quick spin and go out of tackle or juke step around.

i always felt like Fitz and Key were fast in straight line but their side to side is/was a little slow. Stevens has quick side to side movement which would be useful in this offense to move the pocket and find the open person or scramble. Fitz wasn't very mobile in that way. He was more straight ahead mobile and run past you.

All of Mullen’s qbs here were that way. Dak was the least like that but even he is built like a linebacker. I don’t count Tyson Lee.

Mullen may catch some flack for certain things, but one thing he knew was what it takes to get a QB through an SEC schedule. As great as they were in their own conferences, I wonder how Denard Robinson and Lamar Jackson would have fared after an 8-game SEC schedule. I don't think either one had any interest in seeing another SEC defense after we played them in bowl games.
