247 says state is the front runner

LINK

"Mississippi State has emerged as a front-runner for Penn State quarterback transfer Tommy Stevens, a source with knowledge of the situation tells 247Sports. Stevens, who’s already graduated from Penn State, would be immediately eligible to play in Starkville.Stevens’ obvious connection to Mississippi State is head coach Joe Moorhead, who served as Stevens’ offensive coordinator at Penn State from 2016 to 2017.
The Bulldogs are looking to replace three-year starter Nick Fitzgerald, who exhausted his eligibility last season. Junior Keytaon Thompson seemed poised to take over that role exiting the spring. But Stevens’ connections to Moorhead and his familiarity with the system could allow him to jump into that room and compete for the starting role right away."

... now onto the Dan Mullen discussion.*****

This could be great news or terrible news. It's entirely possible this kind of transfer divides the locker room, especially if it's close between he and KT and Moorhead gives Stevens the job.

If bringing in a potentially better QB would divide the locker room, we've got problems whether we bring him in or not. Not that there's any indication at all that this is the case.

I don’t see it as great or terrible news. Just news. I think he could come in and be a decent QB but I have no expectations of him lighting the world on fire, especially with our poor WR play.

That said, our current options are two freshmen with no experience and a career 48% passer, so it’s perfectly reasonable for Joe to wanna bring someone else in if Stephens might possibly be a better option.

Your call is important to us!

Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't see Tommy Stevens being in high demand for most programs. He is a one year guy that really doesn't have much on the resume. The only thing that makes him attractive to us is his experience in the Moorhead system and the fact we don't seem to have a lot of faith in the QBs we have going forward.

I heard it should only take him a couple years to get back up to speed with the JoMo precision offense.***
