He’s a great coach but sounded like a whiny spoiled brat. Izzo gave us very little credit and made it clear it was more them shooting poorly and turning the ball over 21 times. He grudgingly said , “ they were rated number 15 several weeks so not unexpected”. Cried about COVID , only 8 players practicing... maybe Tom needs to realize we had 3 starters out and only just got back Caleb 2 weeks ago . We need to now beat NW that is the only way to send a message. Even if we beat MSU the next time he’ll never credit Rutgers as outplaying his team.Isso is an asshat. Listened to the entire PC on Detroit FP. He barely mentions RU. Mentions 21 turnovers often but not due to RU defense. Mostly about COVID layoff. “We won’t play like that again.” You got smoked d-bag, own it.
MSU board is in meltdown.. Lots of calls to fire Izzo. He can't recruit, clueless Xs and Os guy, etc. Can you imagine being that spoiled that one down year that may end a 25!!! year tourney streak and you are callling for a HOF coach's head.
Oh, and no credit to RU, obviously.
Good middle America, farm country B10 simile! We’re starting to fit in.He may be a nice guy but he wines like a stuck pig... all the time.
But...... But....21 turnovers ... “Rocket missed an open shot... Josh wasn’t feeling well two days ago”... But... But...the guy was frustrated I get it and just look at this board last week. When you don’t expect to lose (especially against RUTGERS ) because no one ever loses to RUTGERS. Maybe we should start to realize we will need to consistently beat these teams until the mantra changes. I think Izzo is a great coach however his post game last night was “ wishy washy”. Sorry .He actually said “They [RU] played really good defense.” And “I can give Rutgers more than their share of credit because they played awfully well.” Maybe you missed that?
How can this be? Rutgers is the only school who tars and feathers their team and coaches after losses.MSU board is in meltdown.. Lots of calls to fire Izzo. He can't recruit, clueless Xs and Os guy, etc. Can you imagine being that spoiled that one down year that may end a 25!!! year tourney streak and you are callling for a HOF coach's head.

You seem unable to take yourself out of your shoes, as an RU fan, and put yourself in Izzo's shoes. Of course his conference was all about what MSU didn't do. He'd be an idiot to do otherwise. Why would Izzo, whose target audience is MSU fans and potential MSU recruits, spend time talking about how great RU did? How does that benefit him or the MSU program in any way?You can see Izzo’s disbelief or disgust. Some of this is expected but for as much as he may keep his praise to a minimum he praises Pikiell . I don’t expect Izzo to fawn over us but his postgame presser was more what Michigan State didn’t do vs. what Rutgers did on the floor to reverse the terrible loss several weeks ago. Sure MSU played terrible but maybe Rutgers played a part in that performance. All said and done a great win . Now go beat NW and keep the intensity up.One team and one goal going forward.
No I have no problem other than the fact Rutgers fans always act as apologists and bend over each and every time. I don’t feel empathy for Izzo and as I have said , ohe is “ a great coach” but in this particular win he comes across as a whiner . Truth be told he was more about his teams poor play . What caused this poor play since MSU kicked the living crap out of us almost every game since we entered the conference? In no way did Izzo ever suspect his team would not show up. Or perhaps Rutgers did play smart BB ... did make those free throws ... did rebound and did out hustle and out muscle Sparty.? Certainly hearing “ he really likes Pike is nice if that is making some feel all warm and fuzzy inside”. I’m positive MSU still thinks this victory was an aberration not only in the MSU mind but the players as well. FWIW don’t tell me about my inability to get over it after the past 6 seasons of being abused by several teams especially MSU. ...all Izzo owes us is to admit last night we were the better team all around. When we were down 4 players recently I didn’t see Pikiell moan and groan as Tom Izzo did last evening in his overdone post game. Next time no excuses now just beat NW .You seem unable to take yourself out of your shoes, as an RU fan, and put yourself in Izzo's shoes. Of course his conference was all about what MSU didn't do. He owes RU and RU fans nothing. He did the polite thing and gave credit to RU and Pike for playing well enough to win. That's plenty.
You think any MSU fans want to hear all about how great it was that RU came back to beat up them in this second game?
C'mon, man.
Why not ? Rutgers over the years has done exactly this. Was that to cover up how badly we had played? Do you believe our recruits want to hear how piss poor at times we have performed in Football, MBB,WBB, Baseball, Softball .I have listened to many post game RU sports reports . When teams beat the hell out of us we usually ... No, make that almost always said , “ they were better , faster, stronger , more physical , better coached”, Tom could not bring himself to say that.It was his guys didn’t shoot well , defend well and were maybe still Covid ill. Sounds like a whine. You seem unable to take yourself out of your shoes, as an RU fan, and put yourself in Izzo's shoes. Of course his conference was all about what MSU didn't do. He wasn't whining. OTOH, you *are* whining about him.No I have no problem other than the fact Rutgers fans always act as apologists and bend over each and every time. By him holding his head, shaking his head., stammering around it became almost whining. You are sounding like an apologist for Izzo. and on a Rutgers board . should . He never admitted that for at least one game Rutgers totally outplayed the evil Spartans. You can feel anyway you wish mildone that is your right however please don’t tell me how I should feel regarding his presser. The guy doesn’t care about Rutgers no matter how much people from RU want to believe that. It’s all about how one looks at what was or not said. I said , “ great coach” but he still was acting as if he was in disbelief over how his team was somewhat manhandled .Nobody felt sorry for Pikiell and Rutgers when we had Geo, Harper, Omoruyi and Caleb out with injuries. He wasn't whining. OTOH, you *are* whining about him.
He was pointing out the stuff they need to fix. Good coach mentality. Pike does exactly the same thing. Pretty much all coaches do.
The whole apologist/bending-over thing is something else I don't understand at all. Who here is apologizing for anything w/respect to the MSU v RU game? Who is bending over?
Sure they like him but that’s not the issue here. The issue is he really was almost dismissive of Rutgers. I don’t expect him to reap praise but at least say, “ we were outplayed tonite”. Where will he place Rutgers in his weekly ratings this week.. ahead or behind his MSU Spartans. Now that will tell a great deal about coach Izzo .well many in the RU AD department always say great things about him---he's liked
Not a chance. They have had no Covid issues that I am aware of. MSU players were sloppy over and above our pressure. As a couple of others have mentioned, Covid layoffs had to affect these guys quite a bit. Conditioning and chemistry looked like it came into play in the second half. They had slow hands and feet. It was not every one of their players, but the same few guys seemed to be involved with most of the turnovers. It will be interesting to see if we get anywhere near 33 points off of turnovers against Northwestern. We do lead the Big Ten in turnover margin.
I like Izzo. He’s been a winning coach for many years.
Izzo likes complementing teams he always defeats.I doubt such complements are said about Michigan and Ohio State to just name two programs with a winning tradition.Izzo is probably the most complimentary historically of Rutgers in all pre and post game press conferences since we joined the B1G. That said his team shot 21% or something and scored 37 points and so I don’t blame him for needing to go off about them to the concerned reports for one time in this historic loss
