There is going to be alot of openings by the end of the season. Competition will be stiff for qaulity coaches.

I so badly want this guy here... I don't know how he passes up a HC position at a place like Wash/VaTech but man I wish there was a way...

It's beyond stupid to think a solid proven OC will move his family to Nebraska for 1 year.

I hope we still try to get one.

The demand will far outweigh the supply, lot of schools about to write 30-50 million dollar contracts that will be regretted in 18-24 months.

It is not just one year to all you that think it is. They will be offering 3 year contracts to assistants so there will incentives to come it’s not just a one year contract ( even if frost fired after one year).

Well, our last guy was working at a credit union and this was before Frost was fully deemed a miserable failure. I’m sure the next guy up will be fantastic.
You know it's a total **** show when during media interviews players state how the OC is finally learning the offense after 2 years.

Herman is waiting for a head coaching position and will not be a OC. In my opinion he deserves another chance and got fired because the Texas boosters didn't like him. He was 54-22 at UT which sounds good right about now lol.

They know what time it is. Somehow Teflon Frost avoids the fact that he hired a guy working at a credit union that takes two years to learn the offense. Frost hired a bunch of low level “yes” men.

You do know that they are going to offer these next group of assistants two year contracts, right?
Yes, JOHNNY N - we all realize that Frost is such a miserable failure that we will have to offer multi-year deals just to get anybody interested. We are also very aware that recruiting doesn’t matter anymore under Frost - so the next guy (and there will be a next guy in 2023) has a harder job due to Frost’s incompetence.

Herman wouldve been a great Head coaching hire. He's not coming to Lincoln to assist Scott in playcalling and coach a bunch of walkons in the wide receiver room.

Why even pretend to be a fan? There are countless number of Iowa fans on this board who aren't afraid to show it… why are you afraid to show it? You won’t get banned, if that is your concern.

And move your whole family for 1 year, get paid for 2. They will get 2 year contracts and similar pay somewhere else if they are any good. What a complete **** show this is.

I am a fan. 100% a fan. But, a fan of what? I am a Nebraska fan. Am I a fan of losing? Am I a fan of watching the joke that is the Scott Frost Era? No, I am not.

The bigger question is how can you sit back and accept what is happening? Are you a fan or a sheep? Any other guy and Frost was packing his bags last year. Period. Now, we are accepting “close losses” as a positive? Watching A. Martinez trot out there game after game and lose and not care makes me sick. It should make you sick.

So they'll be able to get coaches interested by offering multi year deals....interesting. HASSAN CHOP, interesting.

And that is the main reason that we're looking for assistants and not a new head coach. Personally I would have rather we kept Lubick and Held and just jettisoned the 2 easiest guys to replace. JMO. IF we can fix the OT position alone we'll be light years better.

The walk ons have nothing to do with whether or not Herman would come here to be the OC. We've got plenty of P5 caliber WRs on the roster. That said, he was never coming to NU whether it was to be the OC or head coach. He's going to be a candidate for several other P5 jobs without a living legend looking over his shoulder. IF I were USC or LSU, I would hire him in a heartbeat.

Sounds like he is already on Washington and possibly Va Tech's radar as the head man. That sucks!
We had no shot at him anyway. It's hard to believe I know, but quality coaches and players don't want to be part of a losing program.

You think ol' Trev is gonna tell the next coach who the offensive coordinator is going to be for the first two years of said coach's tenure? That's one way the situation could get worse, I guess.

James Franklin is going to SC. Mel Tucker to LSU. Herman would be stuck with the Brody Belts of the world because we wont be able to recruit any P5 talent with Frost at the helm. I dont see any p5 talent in our receiver room. I see an all conference Big Sky receiver a supreme athlete that doesnt understand how to play football and an instate freshman with some potential that only got here because the NCAA waived the ACT requirement because of Covid. Other than those 3 I see a bunch of walk ons.

Sadly, I pretty much agree with this.

The talent level, at least on offense and special teams is pretty abysmal from the players we have seen play.

I can't believe anyone thought there was a snowball's chance in hell of Herman being our OC. Yeah, I bet he's falling all over himself to work as an assistant under a head coach that is obviously:

a. an inferior coach to himself,
b. a gnat's *** from being fired, and
c. failing at recruiting in real-time.

I doubt he comes now because his time at Texas is starting to garner him more attention, but he's an analyst at the Bears and maybe he would take something to springboard him right back into the head man spot. He's familiar with the Big 10, might want to try to beat the **** out of OSU and we might actually pay him a decent amount. I personally doubted it myself, but it wasn't out of the realm.

If he could get your team to do that next year, he'd be even better than Saban. That would be GOAT for sure. Plus, if he wants to "springboard" back to the "head man spot" the trick is to go to Tuscaloosa for a season or two, not Lincoln.

It'd be better if he came to Lincoln as the "coach" and Scott was moved to OC and Scott could learn under Tom Herman, but with the titles reversed.

Agreed on Bama, but they have the O'Brien project currently, and the Sark revitalization isn't turning out so hot. If Herman came to NU it would be a 1 to 2 year deal to show some big time progress and then go to another big program.

Wow, the burns this guy is throwing out...Johnny N might never recover from this
Nothing burns quite as bad as another Scott Frost losing season. Get ready for another one in 2022. At least we have a 77th ranked recruiting class to fall back on. It also looks like Frost was woefully underprepared to fire his offensive staff. I wonder which cashier at Arby’s has an underrated offensive mind?

There are individuals out there that are stupid but look at it as an opportunity. I'm willing to be optimistic when I get up in the morning. Try it some time.
