Just saw it on tv, no link. Still at the top of his game. FFL managers, take note.

This was the last connection to feeling young when it comes to athletes. I could say he was kicking PSU's *** when I was in grade school. Now they are all gone. Now I believe he also might believe he might be at least part human.

As a Steelers fan he should have done some form of farewell tour. Every place would give him what the greatest deserves but he probably doesn't care about that. He knocked the Steelers out of at least 3/4 Super Bowl caliber runs. He is the GoaT even with his deflated balls.

Greatest of the modern day pampered QBs, but not of all time (IMO).

The “pampered” adjective is key here. Not saying he still wouldn’t be, but had he been subjected to the far more physical nature of the game 30+ years ago?…. IDK
And the the guys 60 years ago said the same thing about the guys 30 years ago. I'm 79 ,had a single bar face mask. Was run over by a bull of a RB. My paper thin Riddel helmet split open down the seam. Practiced Monday with a new helmet. Guys before me had no protection.

it’s hard to separate the subjective vs objective. I see the physical era argument more the former.

The guy won 7 titles. SEVEN. And he played in 9 Super Bowls. Not even Paddy Mahomes will break that record.

And he leaves as the leader in a host of all time passing categories. He won 3 MVPs in an era of all-time great QBs (Peyton, Rodgers, Brees, etc).

I’d love to hear an objective measure by which Brady isn’t the greatest of all time.
Pass int % 5th
Pass yds per game 8th
Adjusted yds per pass att 15th
Yds per pass att 29th
Passes comp per game 8th
Passer rating 8th
Pass comp % 19th
Pass TD % 25th
4th qtr comebacks 2nd
Just sayin, cant be best in all stats.

Couldn’t take the hits those from previous generations had to take and last as long as he did. He’s have been done in ‘08 (or whenever) when he blew his knee out (considering how huge a factor that injury was back then). Plus, there is video evidence of refs helping him not get hit after he threw an int. Again, not picking on him specially…he just played in a time when it’s never been easier to play the position.

I agree. That’s why I’m asking for an objective measure by which he isn’t the GOAT.

He’s won more than any QB in history. And done it at two franchises. He has longevity. Elite production across all 22 years. Leaves at 44 and in the MVP conversation.

It’s harder to build a case that he’s not the GOAT than that he is. Just my opinion here and I’m no Brady or Patriots fan.

No doubt the GOAT. Won a Superbowl at age 43 with his 2nd team. In MVP contention at age 44. I used to think Brady and Montana were equals a few years ago, but Brady has clearly passed him.

Now I can hear Steeler fans cry when Brady gets to be the only QB in the 2027 class knocking Ben to second ballot.

Again, not knocking the guy, but IMO Montana > Brady. Joe played right around the time when they STARTED protecting QBs…even still, he took a helluva lot more shots than TB. I’ve read about longevity here a lot - how much longer could the greats from yesteryear have played in the modern game with all the protections and the rule book slanted heavily in the favor of offenses? Brady is the greatest of this modern era, but based on his own medical history, he wouldn’t have lasted 10 years back in the day.

I always thought that Jim Brown was the GOAT but Brady does complicate that a bit.
You are apparently confused.
Brown was a rb, Brady is a qb.
It’s hard enough to decide on the greatest in a sport/position. This is a pet peeve of mine, mixing time periods, sports and positions in the pursuit of naming someone the “greatest”, despite the situational aspects. Please. I know we live a winner-takes-all society but…
