What a bizarre story. At least he was born and raised nearby. Otherwise, it would be really crazy that he was in nowhere Ohio trying to get laid.

For those who lived through the 49ers golden years, this is the grandson of Edward DeBartolo Sr., who got very rich in real estate development (based in Ohio) before he bought the 49ers in 1977. He was a pioneer in development of suburban malls. His son Ed Jr. (this guys uncle) was the driving force behind the 49ers rise.

DeBartolo Sr owned the Pittsburgh franchise in the USFL back in the 80's, so I am sure they have lots of connections to eastern Ohio

I think engaging in prostitution and soliciting prostitution are two different charges? Not going to google that right now, but I read that as he was the one selling, which makes the trailer park in Ohio make a little more sense. If you are looking to find guys willing to pay for sex with him, I would assume a trailer park in Ohio is as good a place as any.

If Ohio considers both the seller and the buyer to be "engaging in prostitution", then I would assume this is a result of him knowing somebody there and being too inept to plug himself into high end prostitution, or it's something much more nefarious.

His whole real estate operation was based out of Youngstown, on the Ohio Pennsylvania border.

Trailer park is apparently 20 miles south of Youngstown in East Palestine, famous because of the train derailment a few years ago.

The "possession of criminal tools" charge could add a little spice to the story.

On the one hand, its probably nothing and a "criminal tools" charge might be a catch all thing in Ohio. OTOH, he paid a $1,000 fine for the criminal tools charge, and only $150 for prostitution (which was reduced to disorderly conduct).

Didn't the Patriots owner do something similar a couple years ago - maybe a "massage" parlor in Miami or something of the sort.

So Im typing this response on a criminal tool?

Or does it only become a criminal tool if I use it in a crime...in which case, just convict me of the crime and not for carrying a phone with me.

I imagine it’s just one of those charges to add extra time or grow revenue with an additional fine

Does the NFL have some moral clause that they can take over a team from an owner who does something stupid like this? I am not saying take the team away but take over running the team.

I am really tired of the moral outrage for clicks on something like this. I have never paid for sex with anything other than my soul so it's nothing I would do, but no one should have to sell his team because of this type of thing. NFL can fine him. If we are talking sexual assault then obviously they should go to jail.

I think the "possession of criminal tools" was the burner phone he had on him that they verified was used to arrange the deed.

Kinda interesting to me that his side of the family came to control the 49ers through his mother (Ed DeBartolo Jr’s sister) when Eddie Jr apparently got caught meeting the extortion demands of good ole Edwin Edwards…

A lot of companies would dump their CEO for that kind of headline. I dont think he would be forced to sell the team unless this gets a lot uglier.
