The most shocking part about the Ole Miss Bama game for me was Ole Miss' lack of big plays. Freeze's teams were a threat to score on any play from anywhere on the field. I didn't get that sense at all yesterday. If not for Matt Corral this would be a very average team.

Don't eat popcorn. I will admit I thought the Lane Train was already up and running in Oxford and that they had a great chance at beating Bama. Definitely soft on the line of scrimmage. Corrall was good, but kept in check by a strong Bama D and Kiffin's offensive play calling seemed unimaginative. (Of course, Bama does often eavesdrop on the opponent's play calling and I'm sure they had the subterfuge ratcheted up for the Rebels.)

Nevertheless, the SEC West seems a bit more of a mystery to me today. Aubie didn't look that good in the win. Arky looked awful. TAMU may be the worst team in the West, but they might end up beating someone before the season ends. Glad it wasn't us.

OM receivers are just okay. Sanders is really good at times but has never had to be the #1. Drummond is a nice player. That’s about it though. For the first time in almost a decade, OM doesn’t have multiple NFL playmakers outside the chuck it up to. They’ve been spoiled.

And yeah, Corral is the only reason that wasn’t a 52-0 game. Without him OM is a 5-7 team.

I don’t know many Ole Miss fans that post on here, although I’m sure a lot read it. But, while you’re right that the popcorn is extra salty, I don’t think I talked any **** at all. If I did, I don’t remember it? In fact, I spent the week building MSU up and saying I thought you had a good team.

Regardless, like I said in another thread, we get what we get when Kiffin pulls that. I can take it. It’s what we signed up for. But I do respect the hell out of him going for it. It’s what a program like Ole Miss needs. An L is an L, be it 7 or 49 points. But I don’t blame any of you one bit for relishing in it. I’d do the same. He made a fool of himself, and it started on that 4th and inches stop on the opening drive (despite it being the right call).

If any Ole Miss fan truly thought we were going into Tuscaloosa with the better team, and wouldn’t need to not only play insanely well, but also get lucky, well then they are a dumbass deserving of all ridicule.

I think this is much closer to accurate than most Ole Miss fans will want to admit. Our OL got exposed at Alabama. And like I said on here before the game, our WRs are average. Kiffin and Lebby scheme them open.

My only retorts would be that I think Corral may be even better than I thought. The fact that he didn’t revert back to last years performance and press, etc. is a great sign. He actually had a really good game, considering the circumstances. Namely the fact that he was under pressure on every single snap.

And I think our defense is maybe closer to average, than below average. 3 of Alabama’s first 5 drives were in Ole Miss territory. They actually got a few stops, and Alabama is.. you know.. kinda good. Bryce Young may be the best QB Saban has had. Kid is special. Our defense is going to be very matchup dependent, though. Alabama had the OL and RBs to run it down our throats.

From a schematic standpoint, I feel like Arkansas, Auburn, and A&M present matchup issues for our defense, going forward. Whereas I think it will matchup well with Tennessee, LSU, Liberty and MSU.

But in the grand scheme of things, you’re exactly right. Our offense isn’t built to play from way behind. It’s dependent on the running game setting things up. And like all offenses, when you get whipped in the trenches, you’re in trouble.

I don’t think we are 5-7 without Corral, simply because I think Kiffin and Lebby are adaptable and would attract a transfer QB. But the rest of what you’re saying is spot on. If we had an average QB we would of course be much worse. We don’t, we’ve got an elite QB. But, he wasn’t elite before he got this coaching staff. He just had some elite traits.

You’re spot on about the WRs though. We aren’t very good there. Average, maybe, be SEC standards. And below average at TE.

Ole Miss also got a lot of hype by beating Tulane the way they did because Tulane played Oklahoma close. Tulane is now 1-4 with losses to UAB and ECU when they gave up 52.

Why does everybody think that since Florida "took Alabama to the wire", that Alabama isn't good or that Florida somehow is? I mean Alabama did the same thing to Florida that they did to Ole Miss.....beat the hell out of them early. It was 21-3 in the first quarter. The guess what? Young teams do what young teams do on the road, they went to sleep. Florida has a more veteran team, and fought back on them. It's not a surprise. Florida is good but not great.

The only difference in that game and that Ole Miss game was that it was in Tuscaloosa, and Alabama just kept pounding. Ole Miss is also good but not great.

This is the first time in as long as I can remember that I feel like State has better receivers than OM. Especially with Mingo now injured. Makai Polk is the best receiver in the state this year, and we have far more depth than them. They only have two healthy WR's with more than 4 catches on the season. And neither of those guys are the same talent level as the guys they've had in previous years. Drummond is a good player but nothing overly flashy, Sanders has shown some flash but totally disappears at times. The Plumlee hype from the offseason is laughable as we sit here today (2 catches for 16 yards on the season).

Give me our receivers over their receivers all day every day right now.

Agreed, 100%. We signed one stud WR in this class, Bralon Brown, and he got hurt. But even with him, your WR room is better this year.

Not to be a smartass, but Bama scored on 5 of their first 6 drives and drove it down the Rebs throats on the 7th before an interception in the end zone ended it.

I don't get why people thought this. I mean, I think Kiffen is doing a good job and I was expecting Ole Miss to do well, but I thought doing well would be beating the spread. What happened seemed entirely predictable. Bama ran it down the throat of their soft D, and that was a more consistent offense than Ole Miss could match. I think A&M and Arkansas are going to give Ole Miss similar trouble with their offense, but Ole Miss is going to be able to score enough to keep up with them and make it compeitive if not win.

There were a lot of MSU fans wanting Leach fired. If you don’t want them to represent you, then you can’t also say those Ole Miss fans represent me. Frankly, we don’t know what other fanbases do. We know what one another does, and then because we don’t like the other try to extrapolate it out and make it somehow a definitive statement on the other. It’s dumb. And I’ve seen enough of your posts to know you aren’t dumb.

You can’t take a Facebook rivalry group, or a few message board posters and say that represents a fan base. Not unless you’re willing to be lumped in to the same group on your side.

As far as Kiffin trolling on Twitter, what did he do? He literally followed the Saban model all week and built Alabama up. He defended himself after Wilbon’s rant, and then, yes, absolutely gave it credence by doing what he did in his pregame interview. I’ve acknowledged that. But, he’s also come out and addressed that today, and whether you believe him or not, he at least owned it. If Kiffin trolled Alabama, I didn’t see it. And I can’t imagine you’re more in tune with what he says and does than me, but I’m sure some on here are.
