Wait no one here looks at Pitt as a rival. No need to play them. I say WVU schedules BYU. That’s not that far away.
I say this as an outsider .
Playing Pitt does nothing for WV.
The game will be put on FS1 or ESPNU and no one outside WV or WPA will talk about it.
Games against Penn St, Alabama, Tennessee, VA Tech and Florida State are better for recruiting and better for WV from a national standpoint.
Those games will be watched.
Doubt WV/Pitt comes remotely close to equaling the ratings of WV/Tennessee.
BYU would give us better competition.
Like an Ahole everyone has one Texass. Of course you have no idea what the backyard brawl represents.
Pitt was never the hated rival to me that they are for others. Growing up in the southern part of the state, then living in Virginia for 3.5 years during the Vick era solidified VT as my most hated rival.
Still I would like to play them as it is close by and our fans travel far enough for other games. I would be open to playing Marshall every year if the games were all in Morgantown.
I hope WVU vs Pitt will be a major success. We may be looking for another conference in a few years. It would be to our advantage to show that playing our traditional rivals is lucrative and therefore appealing to a conference like the ACC.
Virginia Tech has access to the players WVU needs to win.
Beating VPI benefits WVU a lot more than beating Pitt
So just how do they have access to the players WVU needs to win lol? Is it suddenly easier to recruit to the ACC than Big 12-=10? Is Blacksburg more desirable than Morgantown? Is Virginia Tech suddenly Alabama? Your lack of reasoning is astounding lolx2.
I saw that.
Then I realized it was right after Penn State turned down Pitt.
Pitt and WVU are working together and cheering one another on

At the end of her two-page note, Lyke scratched a kind message to Lyons off to the side of her closing signature: Best of luck down the stretch in football!

Both Universities are better together. I hope in my lifetime WVU finds its true home side by side with Pitt in the same conference.
You’re a F’n moron. You really are. Must sting being tA&M little brother haha.
What does Texas A&M have to do with West Virginia?
Just because I own you it doesn't make me Texass.
He/She is not the only one who owns you on here. Everyone one does truthfully.
GJ has lost his mind.
Used to be a quality troll. He is now trash.
Wow. Talk about a no-cranium response from a juvenile perspective. Too funny.

WVU was kind enough to give Pitt some charity by scheduling them 4 times. But those games are a loss for WVU. WVU could have used those games for much better opponents.

PA only had 5 players drafted this year.
3 of the 5 were from Eastern PA. Only 2 players from WPA
Virginia had 10
Maryland had 4
DC had 1
So that area had 15
Plus North Carolina had 10.
In an ideal world you would be correct.
But football isn't ideal because each university has a value.
Pitt no longer has the value it once had.
WV is important to Pitt because WV can fill their stadium.
WV can fill their stadium against Youngstown State in the rain.
Point is WV needs to play schools with value for recruiting.
Maryland, Penn State, Ohio State, VA Tech and any school in the South.
Who would you rather see WV play?
Pitt or Alabama
Pitt or Florida State
Pitt or Tennessee
Even Pitt or Georgia Tech
it's a waste of time and energy to play Pitt.
