There are players out there without the flag on their helmet. Not sure why somebody would say otherwise.

The problem with gimmicky uniforms is they beget more gimmicky uniforms, and you end up with a completely avoidable and dumb controversy. Here's a groundbreaking idea: Blue helmets, blue jerseys, gold pants, and maybe focus on getting a mother f@@@ing first down.
Honor the military with a video montage, a special halftime band salute, whatever pageantry you want and stop giving players a hundred opportunities for public displays of distracting disunity. They are here to play football. Does everything have to be a dog and pony show? Plenty of better and more dignified ways to rightfully honor vets anyway.
