Interesting that it wasn't "ran into Nebraska staff on the road," but Osborne specifically. No one out-worked Tom, and I think that was revealed after he was gone. Everybody assumed Frank would be able to keep it going, because the whole staff was there, but whoops they weren't the ones doing it for the most part.
There is no draft or salary cap in college football. If you can sign the top 25 players every year, nothing will stop you. So programs have a vested interest in having all 10 coaches be excellent recruiters, plus a support staff back at the office to manage schedules, player files, communication, and everything else. Having a roster full of superstars can make average coaches look great.
