Thomas Jefferson (Richmond) held Heritage (Lynchburg) off the board until the final minute, then recovered the onside kick to secure a 14-7 win. The Vikings improved their record to 4-1 overall while handing the Pioneers their 1st loss.

After a scoreless 1st quarter, junior Tyler Meade had two long runs and finished the drive with a 3-yard touchdown run. He totaled 58 yards on the drive on the 2nd play of the second quarter.

Heritage pinned the Vikings deep at their own 1-yard line after a great punt. Quarterback Koi Brown made a great sideline throw to Jaerron Johnson, who took it 92 yards for a touchdown to extend the lead to 14-0.

The Pioneers reached the Thomas Jefferson 35-yard line on back-to-back drives. However, both drives ended with a turnover on downs. A third drive ended with an interception by sophomore Tyrese Cooley-Jones.

Heritage finally put together a 70-yard scoring drive when freshman quarterback Darryl Alexander scored from 10 yards on 4th down. However, the drive took almost five minutes off the clock, and the Vikings recovered the onside kick with 1:14 remaining.
