When Cal was hired I expected _ titles in 10 years?

I don’t disagree entirely but in 2014 we beat 3 teams seeded higher to get to a team seeded lower. I don’t know if it’s fair to include that year. 2017? Man that team wasn’t winning the title. I feel like we are punishing Cal for winning games he shouldn’t have.
I disagree about 17. That team was on a hot streak going into the NCAAT. I really thought they were going get the job done. It took a terrible officiated game, and a last second shot to knock us out. That E8 loss will be one of the more painful defeats, at least for me.

As long as Draft Day is dominated by BBN, I'm happy. Nothing better than watching UK kids dominate the NBA.

Does that make Cal crazy? When hired, Cal himself said he was at UK to help us catch UCLA in titles. He also said "I can recruit the best of the best." Cal set the bar high. He didn't need help from the "crazy" fans.
He said help, the man never guaranteed anything.

He just can't coach well enough with fringe top25 players.
He needs top 10 across the board to overcome his ego and lack of floor sense.

2 in 10 years is what I thought would occur, and he's certainly had the chances to do just that.

We'll see how this year ends up

titles are hard to come by but with the talent that has came through we probably should have grabbed one more over the past 10 yrs

Funny the guy you use as an example is maybe the biggest underachiever in history. Lucky for him he may not be known as the biggest anymore when Cal retires.

Cal only has about 27 more years to find out. However we all know you are the worst poster on RR. It doesn't take 36 years for you to prove it. You have done that in a very short time.

Convenient you leave out his time at Memphis. I’ll let you off the hook with UMass. Regardless it doesn’t look like his second is coming anytime soon.

Um, that 2017 is completely underrated as a team by our fans. They finished the year in the top 5 Ken Pom offense and defense. We went into the tournament with the longest winning streak in the country. Unfortunately we were the first team ever that would have to beat 3 straight Ken Pom top 10 teams just to make the final four. I don't complain about refs hardly ever, but we were screwed against UNC, so badly a call came in telling the refs to clean the **** up. And still we lost on a last second shot to the fake champs. Not Cal's fault.

In 2014 we played undefeated #1 WSU in what is probably the greatest tournament game I've ever watched. That game went to the wire. Next we played an underseeded arch rival in which we came down back 7 with 4 minutes to win, with WCS out of the tournament 4 minutes into the game. Then we played the best offensive team in the country in Michigan and won on a last second shot. That was 3 teams in a row who were in the final four the previous year we had to beat just to get to a final four. Then beat the most disciplined offensive team on a last second 3 point shot, our only made 3 in the game, in Wisconsin.

I simply think that four game run of high intensity, physically and mentally draining games, caught up with us against Uconn. It hurt but that was without a doubt, to me, Cal's best coaching job at UK. That team was dead in the water and out of nowhere he comes up with the "tweak". Nothing more than a psychological ploy that worked unbelievably well.

How many NCAA titles any fan base would be "satisfied with" is directly a function of who has the best players, year in and year out. Having the best players year in and year out creates expectations. Up until last year, Calipari has had the best players, year in and year out, and has one title - which, IMHO, constitutes "under-performing." That leads to unmet expectations, which leads to dissatisfaction. It doesn't seem like rocket science to me.

We should have 3, maybe 4 if you count losing to UConn with Knight, but the best team doesn't always win a one game tourney. A ball takes a weird bounce in, or the opponent hits a shot after the shot clock hits 0.....luck plays more to it then most will admit.
He's done well.

People often wasnt to blame this and that for not winning the title but you also have to be incredibly lucky to win it all. Extremely lucky just to get to the FF, especially if you are UK and the Committee constantly stacks the deck on you when you have a title contender type of team. I truly believe that we would have 3 title since 2010 had we gotten Duke's tournament path over the years. It takes a ton of luck, or alot of favoritism, to win the title. That's for sure!!

I agree. Duke is given the best path and it is amazing they do not have more titles. Maybe they have under achieved
