Tipton retiring

Short Version: Antagonist.

Longer Version where I enjoy hearing myself write: Pat Forde's assessment or comments or whatever that is...drivel perhaps...is way, way, way too kind. But, what do you expect from a journalist describing another journalist. Jerry didn't sell me the paper -- I haven't bought that liberal rag for years. Jerry in a word: antagonist. And, one wonders, why? Why take that approach when you're given the gift of being the beat writer for the greatest college program? Jerry went out of his way not just to find the littlest amount of dirt, but he actively denigrated our program. That's why so many are giving him the appropriate "finger." I know none of us wanted him to be Mr Goody Two Shoes and always give UK a pass, but he decided early on that being a human thorn in UK's side fit his personality and made his job fun. To say his legacy is tarnished is a true understatement. He's NOT a nice person for his work at the H-L. And finally, I'll close with this thought: his writing wasn't all that good either, as he consistently showed less talent in that area than many others in the business (there aren't many good writers left!). So, maybe he'll write one of those unsellable books we'll soon see on Goodwill's shelves.

My Dad does but it comes randomly in the sticks, he would cancel it but he thinks computers are the devil and that is his news source.

Your dad ain’t completely wrong….lol.

I can both respect and shake my head at the older generation that’s too afraid or dismissive of technology. On one hand, I get it. On the other hand, it’s an amazing tool where your dad could connect with not only you but other family.

He says he wished he would have learned about computers but he thought they would be a flash in the pan. He’s 86 now and says they could give him cancer. I really didn’t know what to say when he made that comment. I agree cancer sucks but from computers?

What doesn’t give you cancer these days sadly. I mean even starlight.

Half jokes aside, if he’s still in good shape he’s got time to learn basics. Might even be a good challenge for him.

My dad passed away in February. at 89. He was way more into computers and intelligence than I am now. It’s not an age thing. I hate it, but here I am on a UK message board. It’s personal for everyone.

If I could steal a line from Cal at the NBA Draft, THIS might be the greatest day in the history of Kentucky Basketball!!!

And with Tipton gone, nobody in the media is going to hold accountable the fat jagoff known as Calipari. Tipton earned the right to retire, but this isn't good for UK basketball.

I never thought I would see the day that UK fan's would take the side of Tipton over the UK basketball coach but here we are.

As for me this is how I feel about that crabby old man retiring......

Any time I walk in to Kroger and they've got someone set up trying to hand you a free paper to try and get print subscribers, I'd always respond when they asked me if I wanted to sign up "Does Jerry Tipton still write for you? Then no." I guess my goto now will have to revolve around how absurdly liberal the paper is.

They'd turn to 'the Dark Side' if they thought it could further their agenda. Short sighted.

He went to Marshall.... not sure but that might have something to do about the 'tone' of almost everything he wrote about UK.
