start the 2nd string QB who ever that is. He cannot do any worse than Martinez.

I don’t see how benching Martinez is going to make Chinander into an above average defensive coordinator but I guess it’s worth a shot.

If if comes to that and the backup turns out to be McCaffrey, the Vedral Fan Club's collective head is going to explode.

Martinez hasn't played very well, but put a less athletic QB behind that offensive line and the results will be even uglier.

This game was not on the D. They played great and got wore out. It was on Frost play calling and Martinez decisions. Always looking downfield for the deep ball

how many times did we punt in the 3rd quarter? we never put them away and in the 4th it became a shootout, and when it was on the line, our guy didn't want the ball in his hands or the coaching staff didn't or both.

We could have had Joe Burrow these 2 years. Frost thought Martinez was better. I wonder if he still thinks that.

Not sure it’s Martinez’s fault. Tale as old as time that quarterbacks get worse at Nebraska regardless of coach. Thankfully we have a “real” QB coach on Mario.

The staff did AMart no favors with more bizzare play calling. As others have pointed out, where are the quick screen and throws against the blitzes. Why didn’t JD get more looks? Why not run simple mesh rubs to Wandale and JD to see if you can get one in space?

AMart deserves criticism but this staff is learning on the go. They keep up this **** and the conference slate will destroy them. I still think we are 4-8

That sir, states the truth.

Sitting Martinez accomplishes nothing. He's our best QB by far.
how do we know this? define best.. is it just athletic ability, or decision making, or other intangibles.. it takes a mix of things to be a great qb, and in spite of his great athletic ability, he is so deficient in other areas, we will continue to drop games for as long as he is the qb.

I was warning people about this last year, but some are now finally seeing it, and maybe over time, the coaching staff will make a change. Otherwise, you get the rest of this year, and two more years to endure before he leaves.

Unless he somehow changes who he is (possible, but unlikely) the deficiencies aren't going away. I'm guessing the team has started to figure this out too.

He's probably good for 6-7 wins a year. If that is the best, maybe they should put someone else in.

You were warning people about the deficiencies of our qb a year ago who was breaking team records as a true frosh? GTFO, clown

you mean like the 4-8 record? I don't know how many QB's get to go 5-9 and keep their job.. only a clown could defend that
I forgot he started every game last year...also went toe to toe with Ohio State on their turf, same at Iowa (and nearly led a comeback at Wisconsin)...sure they were all losses but for a true freshman to come in on a team depleted of talent and do what he did (after an injury no less) is nothing short of remarkable...go cheer for a different team

AM deserves to be on the hot seat. His record is awful. All the “would of, could of, should of, and almosts” mean nothing. He hasn’t proven he can win. Job should still be his but he isn’t the no brainer starter he was this summer.

Think that’s fickle or unfair, that’s sports. That’s the world. Best man for the job.

The problem is he doesn’t play defense. 31 points should absolutely be enough to win a game. Offense was far from perfect but in typical Chinander fashion the defense choked when needing a stop.

this is part of what you get with an attacking defense.. everyone and their mother on this board wanted that.. and so the D is going to give up 30 something a game on average, but you also get some more turnovers, which we got as extra possessions.. that is the trade off they are making. We just didn't do much with many of our possessions, esp in the 3rd. In this system, the offense needs to score in the 50's.

Better worry about Northern Illinois now, that could go down to the wire Saturday.

Football is a team sport, man. 2AM has suffered from bad OL play, bad play calling, a lack of weapons, and poor adjustments by the coaching staff. We saw what Vedral and Bunch could do last year, and the results weren't good. No point in trying to destroy McCaffrey's confidence and body behind this OL.

if you want to blame it on the line, why did he often have 5+ seconds back in the pocket to do something? Run blocking is tough because they were loading the box to stop the interior run.. this is nothing new for Nebraska to face.. it means either receivers weren't getting open, or Adrian can't see the field, or isn't reading things correctly, or maybe he just isn't a good field general when under pressure and can't make something happen. How long do you think people are going to follow a guy like that? Who can't get it done when you need it? You have to be able to have a guy back there with confidence, who can make his own breaks, who at his core is a competitive son of a gun who makes the players around him better. Martinez is none of this stuff, and that is why we are getting what we are getting.

Who is he going to throw to? They don't do much with Wandale and JD is our only WR that could be considered even average. Our TEs are not receiving threats at all.

I think it's on the QB.

Something to think about. I saw CU's qb having conversations with his receivers, telling them what to do, their receivers giving him feedback on how they were going to do this or that. It happened multiple times right there on the tv near the end. Close ups of him shouting this and that. Those guys were drawing up the plays, right then and there.

I didn't see anything like this from Martinez at all..
