Leaving Pike's "best team ever" and the pre-season hype (which is always based on what has happened in the past and not looking at what has changed), it looks pretty much like we are not really all that good.
Sure, we have had some high moments, but a lot of teams do too but still are pretty average.
As the saying goes, "you are what your record says you are".
The "easy" games are not looking all that easy anymore. Anything on the road looks impossible and way too many games that are left are against ranked teams that will absolutely pile it on to improve their profile for the dance. How long before what character is left with this team just goes away and we see even worse effort?
Maybe Pike is just not hard enough on these guys. The announcers said that he "was proud of the way they played against Minn."! Really! Of what?
